Maria's Garden, Mykonos

This is another longtime favorite, with a lovely garden often animated by live music and outbreaks of dancing. The vegetable dishes are always fresh and tasty, the lamb succulent,... more...and the seafood enticing. In short, this is a place where ambience and cuisine come together to create a very successful restaurant.

MYKONOS - DESPERATELY SEEKING SHIRLEY

Advantages: Variety! Beaches, food, people - Greece!
Disadvantages: Very hot. Remembering HOW to deal with loo paper

on Delos. Paradise Camping is one of several places to stay in the area, however what makes it special, is that the owner LOVES to garden, so all the fruit and vegetables come from his garden - 100% organic. The watermelon tastes terrific, and is just the thing to cool you down. You can eat all your meals at your resort, or wander down the beach and try the others. There is a choice of buffet, or hot meals, as well as the famous greek salad. Except you ALMOST get too much cheese (almost!)! Instead of staying in the resort, go to town and eat! The bus to Mykonos town cost less than 1 euro and the town was beautiful, Windmills, narrow streets, with the pavements outlined in white paint, flowers, Pelicans (dont attempt to pat the male, he doesnt like it). Celebrity watching too - at least it LOOKED like Michael Palin! We had a wide ...

"Tia Maria Playse"

Advantages: It's gorgeous, it'a alcoholic, it's a sweet, luxurious liqueur..
Disadvantages: Too expensive!

This has got to be my favourite drink in the world. And to use an American expression that I think rather fitting....Period. It's fantastic, I could rave on about it using all sorts of adjectives. but that's not going to get me a high rating, nor particularly inform you guys. :P As described on the rather lovely packaging, this drink is 'uniquely dark and intriguing' and I've got to agree. Tia Maria is a dark rum and while it looks like it could be quite dry, it's got a deliciously sweet coffee/vanilla taste to it that is so moreish. Pour it into a glass and you'll see a thick, dark coloured, wonderful-smelling liquid come out. Put the glass to your lips and inhale the vanilla/coffee smell. Sip it slowly and taste the luxurious pleasure that is Tia Maria. I can't describe the taste, I wouldn't do it justice. It's26.5% volume ...

Hanging Gardens of Wellington

Advantages: Nice stroll, good plants
Disadvantages: Steep

If you only can spare time to seek out one plant in New Zealand, it would have to be the most famous of all its plants - the silver fern. If, on the other hand, you are a nature lover and you find yourself with a free afternoon to spend in Wellington (New Zealand's capital city), then I strongly recommend the Botanic Garden for its plants, scenic views and pleasant strolls. For everyone else, I'd still recommend it, but only after you have taken your fill of the Te Papa museum (which is my number one "must-see" recommendation for Wellington). The gardens span some 25 hectares and if you are anything like me, they will fill as much time as you have to spare and then some. People with bad knees or small children be warned though - it's pretty steep and you may struggle a bit! There are some mobility scooters available though. I came here ...
