...This place is simply the best hotel and holiday I have ever, ever had. Now I could leave it at that but I expect you want a bit more information to as why? The Riu Club Hotel Negril (also refferred to as Riu Negril) is all inclusive so you don't need to worry about paying while away. Please remember if you go to Jamaica they charge you to leave the country at the airport. The cheapest way to do this is to take Jamaican dollars. It works out about £10 stirling each. However if you pay in US dollars it equates to about £15 stirling or if you pay stirling it works out around £13. We took the Jamaican dollars and just kept them to one side. Oh go on then.... Advantages: Better beach than Ochos Rios

...that at night the colours reflected onto the ceiling and around the room - so romantic (there you go Peter - your ceiling description at last!). Our balcony did indeed look over the tropical gardens which, in my opinion were better than those at OR. We even had a partial sea view! I preferred the accommodation in Negril - it was more modern and had better air con (remote controlled rather than storage heater-style). ~~~~~ Beach ~~~~~ Negril deserves its own section on the beach. Rather than being a private beach like OR the hotel is on the main Negril beach at Bloody Bay (they used to slaughter whales here, hence the name) situated between a new Riu hotel and The Grand Lido hotel. The beach is huge, white sand fringed by turquoise water - everyman's dream. Palms on the beach complete the picture with hammocks for two swung between... Read review

...Well having just finished our 3rd visit to Jamaica i guess you could say that we are biased about the place. I started going to Negril with my wife on our honeymoon to the Beaches Negril resort (which is part of the Sandels resots group) in 2004 and haven't looked back since. It is a really lovely place to go for a holiday, beaches resorts maybe on the costly side for a two week holiday but it is really worth it as they are all inclusive so you never have to worry about food or drink. The resort has about 3/4 of a mile of the 7 mile long beach at Negril and is bordered by its Beaches Sandy Bay resort where you can also go and use during your stay. Being on the west side of the island means you can be in a great place to see the sunset but the best place we found was at Rick's Cafe which is about another 45 mins up the coast... Read review
