Advantages: quaint Disadvantages: dangerous and ingenuine
...little more like the standard markets we know - they sell cheap fruit and veg and are quaint little remnants of eastern european culture. however, if you venture inot the town centre as i am sure you will there are a couple of extensive cnentral markets, these are beautiful things but only really sell stuff that is meant for the tourists, that is to say sunglass, t shirts and other memorabilia. this are stiill worthy of a visit but do not expect ...

Advantages: One of the few farmers markets in this area which is open on a Saturday, good parking Disadvantages: price, not enough stalls
...to a couple of farmers markets and by no means an I an expert, but I found this one a little disappointing.
Now farmers markets are what they say... markets held by/for farmers to sell their produce directly to the public. You also get thrown in for good measure producers of various other food stuffs including bread, pies and various other organic and home produced products.
All in all the location is extremely good. They have a large barn which ... ...nice trip out, but all in all I've been to far better farmers markets with a greater selection and far better value for money.... I'm all for supporting our farmers but I take exception at being ripped off.
Go along, have a look and hopefully have a nice day. ...

Advantages: Fascinating, colourful, might get to sample some Croatian foods, shop for a picnic Disadvantages: Can't buy some things if you're in a hotel
Dolac is Zagreb?s very colourful central fresh produce market. It is situated in the area just behind Trg Bana Jelacic and you can access it though a small lane where you see the flower market start. The market was opened in 1930, having been built on the site of a slum clearance; it was agreed by the city's bigwigs that the houses there were not a fitting sight for visitors to a capital city and so they were duly demolished. I was delighted to read that in his speech at the opening of the market, the mayor of Zagreb Dr. Stjepan Srkulj said "?During my visit to Holland this year, ladies and gentlemen, I can honestly say that I did not see a market that was as nice as this...? - and, you know, it is rather special.
Beyond the flower market you can either climb the stone steps to the market proper or go into the main indoor section ...
Advantages: Great variety of entertainment on offer. Generally cheaper prices than larger venues Disadvantages: The length of the trek to the loos! Not the most comfortable seating
The Old Market Hove is a place which is difficult to label! It?s an historical building of some note, a theatre, a cultural centre, a venue for private hire catering for all sorts of events including weddings and civil partnerships, a recording studio, home to the celebrated Hanover Band and a base for Springboard, a competitive performing arts festival for young people. In fact it is a wonderful and invaluable community resource just a stone?s throw from the sea in The Brunswick area of Hove but just on the Brighton border.
~~~BRUNSWICK TOWN~~~
The area now known as Brunswick is, for me, one of the most fascinating areas of Hove. Brunswick Town was largely the brainchild of the Reverend Thomas Scutt whose family owned much of the land upon which it was built and Charles Augustin Busby, a talented architect who was responsible ...
Advantages: Hustle, bustle, colour, bargains Disadvantages: Variable quality, not so good for souvenirs
What, would you say, is that curious-looking building depicted in the photo at the top of this page?
Of course, quick as a flash, you are likely to reply ?Riga Central Market?, having cunningly read the caption beside it. And you?d be part right. No more than part right because it is only one of five almost identical buildings that house just the indoor section of the market, with ? in the summer at least ? another area of similar size for stalls outside. And only part right because they weren?t built as market halls at all, but as hangars for First World War zeppelins. This is among the original features that enhance the character of what would in any case be one of Europe?s largest and liveliest public markets.
Let me confess at the outset that I?m an absolute sucker for markets. Not ...
