Choice Hotels in Blackpool

Advantages: Well appointed,clean, kids club,spacious,good food,friendly staff
Disadvantages: None

I know, I know, Blackpool is perceived as fish'n'chips, bucket and spades, amusement arcades, B&B's. What about something different? Choice Hotels in Blackpool run 3 hotels - The Claremont (near the North Pier), the Talk of The North (near South Pier) and the Cliffs Hotel (North Promenade just up from Gynn Square). My family and I have stayed at the Cliffs Hotel on 6 occasions, ranging from weekend breaks to full weeks. Why? The hotel is large and well appointed - it has a 1920's feel about the facade and interior and is very clean and spacios. There are 5 bars and a large resturant. The food is excellent with a very good selection - the staff are very helpful and friendly. There is a well appointed leisure club - free to residents. It has a pool, jacuzzi, small but very good gym, sauna, sunbeds and a leisure club bar. It ...

Squirrel Lodge, B&B in Keswick, Lake District

Advantages: Clean, well presented and everyone polite and helpful
Disadvantages: Problems over price, some glitches with food

Squirrel Lodge is a bed and breakfast in Eskin Street, in Keswick. Keswick is a delightful town situated in the heart of the Lake District and is an ideal base for exploring the area for activities such as walking and cycling. The town itself has a good number of restaurants, pubs and shops. The bed and breakfast is situated near to the town centre, just a few minutes walk away. It's easy to get to and the location of the bed and breakfast is very convenient. The biggest challenge can be finding car park spaces, but this is a problem for many of the establishments (and indeed locals) in the area, but we were able to find spaces not too far on each occasion. We stayed for three nights during the off-peak season, and Squirrel Lodge was generally full, although still had vacancies on a couple of nights. There are a range of rooms, twin ...

Norbreck Castle Hotel - Blackpool

Advantages: Late bar and all you can eat food
Disadvantages: Too far to the town

My friends and I decided to have a weekend away because it was one of their birthdays. We booked for a two-night weekend break at the Norbreck Castle Hotel in Blackpool through National Coach Holidays on 19 November 2004. The brochure described the break as being ?All inclusive? and we looked forward to fact that we would be able to drink copious amounts of alcohol for free (and why not!). We paid £89.00 for two night?s dinner, bed and breakfast with drinks also included from 7.30pm ? 10.30pm in one of the three bars in the hotel. When we arrived at 1.30pm we were met in the lobby with a poster telling us that we were unable to check in until 3.30pm, this was our first mishap. The décor in the lobby was okay and the hotel on the surface seemed rather nice. We made our way to the bar (as you do), to kill a couple of hours ...
