Marrakech Menara Airport (RAK), Marrakech

When arriving in a new country, the first thing that you will come across is the airport. In Marrakech the airport was not too far from the city itself so you could see the orange architecture upon arrival. It is just a wide open space the airport with not a lot of other aircraft as cities like this are obviously not quite like Heathrow. Once arriving you could see the other passengers waiting to get on as we got off. Arriving at Marrakech airport, first impressions seemed okay. The stairs were at the plane very quickly and so we were off the plane in a few minutes. We did need to walk a short distance across the tarmac to the main airport arrivals lounge - which again seemed okay. However, that's where the good impressions stopped. We had to fill out an arrivals card - which was fine - but there was not a single pen on the stands for travellers to use. As I didn't have a pen, I had to borrow one from another traveller - but I certainly wasn't alone in searching for the non-existent pen. And then came ... more
