A Hidden Gem
Advantages: great service, great food, great setting! Disadvantages: not in the Uk :-(
As many of you will now have gathered from my past reviews, I have in fact been to Marrakech this summer. I did love the local cuisine and am always up for trying new foods but it doesn't always agree with me. One night there I just wanted to try a cuisine I was familiar with in a lovely restaurant and so I referred to my top ten guide for the answers. In the new part of the town, outside the city walls is a very modern up to date area where the ... ...coming with familiar shops and restaurants so this is where I decided to dine. My map in tow, I walked down some quite dimly lit streets looking for Trattoria Di Giancarlo which the book stated was a lovely restaurant but judging on where I ended up it seemed I was heading the wrong way. However, after asking a few locals it appeared this was the right way and once I was staring the restaurant in the eye it did seem posh after all. Obviously, from ...

What for a romantic place.......
Advantages: dream place, good food Disadvantages: not easy to find, risotto
Ciao ragazzi, I would like to introduce you this dream place. It's not in Marrakech city, but outside, in the exclusive Palmerie. Now, you can arrive there by yourself or by taxi.
By yourself: you have to take the street for Fes. Drive straight and you will find on your right the Metro warehouse, it's big, it's impossible don't see it. Ok, you will drive a few meters and turn in the firts street on your left and after in the firt on your right. ... ...left. No parking problems.
By taxi: Not all the taxidrivers know where the restaurant L'Abyssin is located, in this way is much more better to tell them the name of the hotel Palais Rhoul. When you will arrive ask to the taxidriver his phone number, because you will not find taxi after dinner.
When you arrived there, you will enter in a garden with palms and olive trees and more others kind of trees, but I don't know the names. Very nice. At first ...

Eating&spleeping in a riad in Marrakech
Advantages: good food, clean, great cocktails, nice rooms Disadvantages: --------------------
.... So, we saught out Cafe Arabe, a restaurant (and inn) hidden within the medina. WOW. This place is COOL. Gorgeous. Enchanting. With both covered patio-type seating, a swanky little bar, indoor seating and delicious drinks upon the terrace with a view of Marrakesh you'll love. I did great pictures of this place. Owned by Italians, ( the owner is from Milano and the manager from Reggio Emilia, the city of the Parmesancheese, tortellini) you'll find ... ...Paolo, told us, that the Cafe has 2 double rooms and a minisuite. We asked him the see the rooms. No problems, in this way we could shoot some photos. I think it's a good idea to sleep in a riad for enjoy the real Morocco, that's not possible in a 5 stars hotel :-( ....next time
The Sunday Moroccan-international brunch tasts optimal. It's a great buffet, for 200 DHS. It's not expansive, but unfortunatly it comes suspended in July and August because ...

Pretty and Pink
Advantages: airy, nice decor Disadvantages: food is average
I enjoy the Bougainvillea cafe as it is a perfect place to stop after walking and bargaining. The cafe is all decked out in pink and the atmosphere is relaxed. It is located in a classic riad with an open space in the middle. There are also paintings and photos on the walls which are for sale.
The open middle offers air and sunshine. In the winter the cafe is heated.
The food is well priced but fairly average fare including pizzas, sandwiches and ...

A great Italian restaurant in Marrakech
Advantages: good pizzas, housemade pasta, seafood, clean, WiFi Disadvantages: no alcohol at the moment
The Portofino Ristorante Pizzeria has a contemporary architecture, it's completely different from others Marrakech's restaurants. The owner is Italian and the chef too. He worked in Agadir before, at the Restaurent Rugantino. He moved with all is staff to Marrakech in October 2005. The chef told me, that for have a very crispy cooked pizza, you need a traditional wooden oven, and in this way, the oven comes from Modena. Modena is not only Ferrari's ... ...from the J. Fna square. Portofino is beautiful and the service of the waiters very good. Unfortunatly they have some problems with the English, but the manager speaks a fluent English because he worked in the Usa.
If you don't want eat a pizza....no problem, you can choose between spaghetti, penne, maccheroni, lasagne, cannelloni, gnocchi (I loved gnocchi alla Sorrentina). They have a very good house made pastas. No pasta. They can cook for you ...
