We stayed at the Marriott Denia for 10 days towards the end of July 07. There were 4 in our party 2 adults and 2 boys (11 and 9 yrs old). If you have every stayed at the Son Antem Marriott in Majorca, you will be disappointed,
as it is nowhere near as good! Having said that, we still had a fantastic time. I think it's best to point out the good and bad points. All of the faults could be rectified very easily. Firstly, the service is the normal high quality you would expect from a Marriott, they still struggle to cope at the bar in the evenings but no real bother. The pool is nice, not heated but clean. The female lifeguard was a nightmare, I think she must have come from a Health and Safety background. When she was off duty, it was much more enjoyable! I believe several guests complained about her . There wan't enough for the kids to do. No games room (although there were signs indicating there must have been at some time). So, no pool table (Son Antem has two) No Table tennis table (Son Antem has two) and no giant outdoor chess set (Son Antem has one). There is room for all of these. The food is poor, they had 2 buffet nights in the main restaurant. The Italian buffet was OK but the Spanish one was dreadful. Can you believe they didn't even do Paella? Strange!! The pool bar food was OK and the indoor bar food was adequate. You would be hard pushed to find more than one or two good dishes on each menu. The rooms are great, fantastic air conditioning and about the quietist rooms I have ever stayed in. They were the best 10 nights sleep I've ever had! We had a golf view room, overlooking the small car park and the driving range. We deliberately stayed away from the golf AND pool view rooms, thinking it might be noisy overlooking the bar with its outside terrace but we needn't have worried, very peaceful and quiet all round! The location is great, close to Denia and Javea (10 / 15 mins drive)and we took a trip into Moraira too which is a bit further away (30 mins) but a really nice resort.
So in summary: 1. Sack the Chefs - no really the food just isn't up to scratch. 2. Add some more recreation for the Kids / Adults. 3. Get rid of the horrible female lifeguard, she really is a nightmare.
And / or the Marriott Denia should make their minds up whether they want to be a family resort or cater for more 'well to do' adults / couples only. As it is the resort doesn't really satisfy either......
