The first experience I had of staying in a Marriotthotel was in Los Angles and I was most impressed the food was well above average and the staff could not have been more helpful the room we had was very large with two queen sized beds and decorted to a high standard but the best bit was a gorgeous swimming pool.
We had such a great time at this hotel that when I returned back to England I wanted to stay at another Marriott and as our anniversary was coming up it seemed the perfect excuse we chose the Marriot in Bournemouth and we were not disapointed the room was great as was the food and although the break was £250 for two nights this price did include dinner and use of the lesiure factilies which we made the most of we left feeling very relaxed and I decided that we would book up for christmas at a Marriott hotel I studied the brochure and chose the Marriot in Portsmouth I was looking foward to it very much.
When Christmas(2004) finally came around we were looking foward to our christmas break and as I had just given birth to my second child only two months before it was a much needed break. The hotel had promised lots for the children and as I have a older child as well it seemed ideal. On arrival the hotel looked very nice but when we checked in and found our room we were very disapointed it badly needed decorating and was really small even for two never mind four!!! The cot provided for my daughter was wooden and very creaky and my sons put up bed squeaked I sensed a night with little sleep.
The worst part of our stay was the our christmas day meal at the resturant we were the only ones there and it was very unrelaxing as there were more staff than guests all the staff looked very fed up and we could not wait to leave. I was also very annoyed that I had been lead to believe there would be activies for the chidlren when on arrival it was obvious this was not the case. But there was worst to come when we checked out and the bill was much higher than it should have been nealry double so I had stand and aruge with recetion for twenty minutes and I was not the only one either . I wrote to the hotel once back home and they were again very unhelpful so the whole experince has meant I would certainly think twice before staying at a Marriott Hotel I beleive good hotel chains should be consitent thourghout!

Sorry to hear of the bad experience you had. I stayed at the Marriott Niagara Falls last summer and I was blown away with the service and facilities there. I hope you have a better stay next time you visit them. A good review
