About the hotel:
The Leeds Marriott is owned and operated by the Marriott international chain of hotels.
Location:
The hotel is located in the city centre very close to the main attraction. Less than five minutes walk away is the main shopping street which features a House of Fraser department store as well as Harvey Nicholls. There is also a large branch of Marks and Spencer as well as the usual range of high street shops such as Topshop,
The centre of Leeds has a great variety of shops and places of entertainment's. There are a great variety of bars and nightclubs and it is a great choice for a weekend away of sigh seeing and shopping.
The Royal Armories is a great afternoon out for history buffs and you are only 40 minutes drive form the historic city of York. The countryside surrounding Leeds is dotted
with properties of historic interest and lots of information is available from any tourist information centre.
If you are here on business the hotel is located close by many large companies such as British Telecommunications, Asda Northern Headquarters for example, and is within walking distance eof the banking district.
The hotel:
The hotel is registered AAA Diamonds. The hotel has recently been refurbished and the lobby is imposing yet friendly. Check in is from 2pm and check out is by 12 noon. You are required to leave your credit card details at reception when you check in (pretty standard practice in all hotels chains) and you can then have express check out where any debits are made to your credit card automatically. Safe deposit boxes are also available at reception.
The rooms:
The room we had when there for the weekend was large and spacious (although not as large as some of the other Marriott properties, which I have stayed in). There are tea and coffee making facilities in the room as well as a mini bar. It says in the hotel guide that you can also request a fridge for a small charge payable locally, although we just placed a few things in the cold mini bar!!
The room featured two large queen sized beds and there was a comfy armchair as well as a desk if you have business to tale care of whilst you are away!
Although not in the rooms, you can request a hairdryer and iron and ironing board from house keeping.
There was a large remote controlled television that featured satellite and in room movie channels including several choices of movies for kids.
Restaurants and bars:
There is a nice bar in the hotel which is decorated in a luxurious style and almost reminds me of a gentleman's club with dark mahogany wood paneled walls. The bar served a good range of drinks and cocktails and offers nice light meals and snacks throughout the daytime and evening.
Breakfast is served in John T's, the hotel restaurant. A full English/Continental breakfast was included in the price of our weekend package and was offered in a self selection style with a very wide range of choices. The buffet was regularly topped up and tea, coffee and hot toast were served to the table.
The restaurant offers a wide range of choices for lunch and dinner including typical Yorkshire style food as well as more international cuisine, especially Italian style dishes.
Facilities: The hotel also offers the following facilities and usage is complimentary throughout your stay:
Indoor pool Solarium Health club Whirlpool Sauna
Best deals:
You can get some great deals on hotel rooms by using the online Marriott Website. The best deals tend to be at weekend as this hotel appeal to the business traveler during the week. The hotel seems to cater for a lot of stag and hen parties at weekends as it is close to lots of the bars and nightclubs in the centre of Leeds. However, the hotel is still quite quiet and never gets rowdy or unseemly!
Parking:
There is an NCP car park that is located across the courtyard from the hotel. Car parking rates are around £15 for 24 hours.
If traveling by train, the hotel is located approximate 5 minutes walk away from the train station. This is a major train station that offers a series of links to major cities around the country (the journey between Leeds and Manchester and Manchester Airport takes approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes).
An interesting read and with time on my hands I'm going to read and rate some of your previous ops. I'll let you know how I get on in your guestbook - take care - Phil

For that price, I would have thought the hairdryer is implicitly placed in the bathroom without having to request it.

I'm a fairly frequent guest here, indeed I had Christmas lunch here. I stole a furry bauble from the Christmas tree in the foyer! :O)
