Marriott Marquis New York, New York City

Let’s get one thing straight: this hotel is MASSIVE. The Marquis is slap bang in centre of Times Square and in the heart of the action. We chose it because it was our first trip to New York and therefore needed somewhere central (and good quality; with Marriott, you can never really go wrong). The hotel has nearly 2000 rooms and that “personal touch” suffers as a result. It is big, bustling and brash, just like the city itself. If you want to stay in Central New York then this is the hotel to book. It is actually IN Times Square! It's a huge modern hotel with over 45 floors so some of the views are great. There is a bar at the top which is a lovely place to have a drink, although it's not cheap. There are quite a variety of restarants, bars and cafes in the hotel itself, but of course you do pay top hotel prices, and we found loads of cheaper places locally to eat and drink.
