If you want to stay in Central New York then this is the hotel to book. It is actually IN Times Square! It's a huge modern hotel with over 45 floors so some of the views are great. There is a bar at the top which is a lovely place to have a drink, although it's not cheap. There are quite a variety of restarants, bars and cafes in the hotel itself, but of course you do pay top hotel prices, and we found loads of cheaper places locally to eat and drink.
We were on the 12th floor facing the river which was lovely to sit and look at, you can watch the 24 hour city going on in the streets. Our room was large and bright, well sound-proofed and very comfortably furnished. In fact we had the biggest bed I have ever seen!
There was a coffe maker in the room, but as I don't drink coffee I used to run water through it and leave out the coffee bag, and just use the teabags I brought with me from home.
From the moment we arrived to the moment we left the staff were attentive and helpful, the room was always clean with crisp whit sheets on our vast bed, and fluffy white towels ( a must for a good hotel I think).
Our room was right next to the elevator lobby for our floor and at first we thought he 'ping' of the elevators stopping by our room would disturb us, but we didn't hear a thing. The elevators are an experience in themselves as they run on the outside of a column that contains the lobby for each floor and they are transparent - and quite fast - so every journey is exhilarating!
It is a great hotel if you want to be based centrally - most theatres are just a few minutes walk away, and I felt very safe walking back at nightime through the streets to the hotel. I would definitely use it again
How helpful would this review be to a person making a buying decision? Rating guidelines
Hello, wifebird! Welcome to Ciao! This wasn't really enough information for me to make a decision ~ I expect it was rather expensive for that amount of service ~ and as a "physically challenged" (I use two walking sticks for mobility) member I need to know a bit about facilities for the disabled ~ were there evacuation chairs on higher floors for assisting disabled to descend in case of fire and the elevators (lifts) being out of use? What was the restaurant like? was it possible to request alterations due to dietary requirements? Perhaps there is a website address for us to look up information not supplied? If you choose to UPDATE this review (using the "Edit review" / "Write a review" link above under your review title) please let me know, and I'll come back to re-read and rate. If you then click on the names of those rating helpful, most will be willing to re-read as well ~ particularly where they have indicated below that they would appreciate more information ! ♥♥ ! ~ ........................................................... ~ jes ~ ! ♥♥ !

I'm surprised you could see the river from only twelve floors up on Times Square! Interesting review, but it would have been useful to know the room rate. Duncan
