Advantages great service, lovely food, nice atmosphere
Disadvantages menu had perhaps a bit too much choice
I recently dined at this restaurant and was very impressed by it. I will definitely be returning again as the food was fresh, service great and we left feeling very relaxed and as though we had had a good evening out. Prices are fairly normal for within this city so I cannot even complain about the bill at the end of the night.
When we first arrived at this restaurant (A party of 6 of us) we were unsure if they would be able to fit us in as it looked very full indeed but a member of staff had us seated within a couple of minutes at a table which didn't feel overlooked despite the whole place being packed full.It was a Friday night which would explain why it's so busy but other people have told me that this place is often very busy as it is so popular so I would advise ringing and booking in advance if you can to avoid being disappointed.
Sometimes when we have dined in restaurants that have been very full we have been made to feel as though we have been rushed as though the staff are trying to get us out to fit more people in but I didn't feel like this here, instead I felt very relaxed. The buzzing atmosphere was great, it was very laidback actually even though it was busy. The menu was rather large, it did take a while to read through everything to be clear about what they had to offer and thre was a specials board too. Perhaps this is the only negative I can think of- there was so much choice it was a bit mind boggling for me!
I ordered pizza for my main, I like to stick to traditional Italian food when I dine in an Italian and I wasn't disappointed at all. It was very fresh and tasted as though it had not been sitting around but freshly prepared to order. The dough was lovely, not at all soggy. One of our party ordered chicken and it was so tender it was almost falling apart, it certainly looked delicious and my friend said it was divine! The whole meal was a success. It didn't take us long to be served our food even though it was busy so the staff are obviously very competent and able to serve well even when there are large parties and a full restaurant.
A bottle of wine cost us £16 which seems pretty standard really for Bath. We worked out that a meal for 2 (2 mains, 2 starters, sharing a dessert and abottle of wine) would come to around £60 again I think that this is quite standard for this city.I was very impressed and will definitely be returning again when I am in the area or if I am organising a special meal out. There were quite a few large parties here and they all seemed to be served at the same time and were very well tended to so it does look like a great place to celebrate a special occasion. The food was lovely and staff very friendly.
Only downside was the menu had too much choice for me! 5 stars!
