Advantages: Lovely zoo, wide variety of animals Disadvantages: Expensive to get in, no lions or elephants
Marwell Zoo is a lovely place for the whole family to visit. There are a wide variety of animals, including zebras, giraffes, cheetahs, tigers, monkeys, lemurs etc. It cost about £44 to get into the zoo for 2 adults, a 2 year old (who was free) and a 3 year old. It is set in a wide, slightly sloped area, but it's not that hilly. On the day we visited, we tried to get drinks for our children from 3 different vending machines, and not one of them was working. Having said that, we went to the cafe, and food there was moderately priced. They had a fair selection of food available, including soup, jacket potatoes and pasta dishes.
Overall, we would recommend this zoo, but it is a little expensive to get in. ...
Advantages: Comfortable, clean, relaxing Disadvantages: None that I found
Picture this! A lady who I support was having new flooring in her room and needed to go away for a couple of days while the work was being done.
Where to take her?
I browsed the Internet looking for somewhere to stay. I looked at hotels in Eastbourne, Brighton, Worthing and Littlehampton. Then I had a bright idea (bit of a shock that, I don't often)
The MarwellHotel.
The lady I was going away with loves animals and I had wanted to take her to Marwell Zoo sometime, it is about an hour and a half drive from where she lives so would make a really long day out for her so why not combine her trip away with a zoo visit?
I typed MarwellHotel into Google and came up with a website full of information. It sounded perfect and wasn't too expensive so I phoned them and booked a room for us.
I am not going to review the web site ...

Advantages: Family Fun, Not Too Expensive, Protecting Wildlife Disadvantages: None
General:
Marwell Zoological Park is a large Zoo in Winchester which covers 100 acres of land. There are over 100 different animals which are all seperated into categories such as Africa & Amphibians. There are all types of animals from Bats to Penguins & of course the star attraction are the big cats, personally my favourite is the Tiger. The best bit about the park is that the animals look happy and well cared for.
It's a great family day out for all ages & if you have little ones or just don't feel like walking there is a train that goes around the whole park, which is beautiful I might add oh and it's free!!
Opening Times etc:
Marwell is open everyday of the year except Christmas Day and costs £14.50 for Adults & £10.50 for children which includes a donation of £1.50 which you don't have to pay if you don't want to.
