A beautiful feng shui hotel

Advantages: Excellent hotel, choice of restaurants on all inclusive tariff
Disadvantages: can be a bit windy - smaller stretch of sand than some other resorts

This hotel was designed with a feng shui advisor so the rooms are themed as metal (superior rooms), water (deluxe) or wood (suites). We had paid for a deluxe room and were upgraded on arrival to a 1 bedoom suite. It was a truly luxurious room with the most massive bathroom I've ever seen. There are two sinks, a walk in shower area (easily big enough for 2 people), a two-person jucuzzi bath from which you can watch the sunset if you wish. A lovely ...
...bit is you get a huge outdoor seating area one area is undercover with sofas and a dining area and the other area is under the sunshine and has 2 large sun loungers. The superior rooms are located on the lower floors and the deluxe rooms are located in a separate bay about 2 mins walk further than the main block. One of the best features of this hotel is the choice of restaurants that is included in the all inclusive tariff. This includes a mediterranean ...

5 star hotel, 4 star price tag - Maritim Hotel, Mauritius

Advantages: The service is exceptional
Disadvantages: May seem expensive to some people but worth saving for in my opinion

~~Maritim Hotel, Mauritius~~ ~Why this hotel: In 2007 my partner and I were invited to our best friends wedding in Mauritius, it was something we definitely did not want to miss or something we did not date miss because my partner was the best man. We did have the option to pick our own hotel but we decided the best choice would be for us to stay in the same all-inclusive hotel with our friends. Our holiday was for the first 2 weeks in May with Hayes ...
...weeks. You may think the cost was a little bit on the expensive side, but I hope my review will help to explain why. I am not reviewing Mauritius itself - just the 4 star hotel. ~First impressions: When we arrived at the airport we were greeted exceptionally well by the locals, the ladies received flowers and the men received a necklace of exotic flowers. We quickly made our way through the airport checks and outside to our private air-conditioned ...

Warm and sunny and that is just the welcome

Advantages: Away from it all in paradise
Disadvantages: A bit of a climb back up the hill if you go down by bike.

Lakaz is basically a set of bungalows, each individually designed and each with its own outside shower, which is great, set into the hillside of an old banana plantation. You are invited to make yourself at home and you can. There is a pool. You can pay a flat fee for drinks and just go to the fridge when you are thirsty. there is fresh fruit to be had all day. The staff are unfailingly helpful and friendly and totally unobtrusive. The manager used ...
...on the coast, so the kitchen is unbeatable. You can visit the coloured earths and tea plantations easily and also go abseiling down immense river gorges or by the sides of a waterfall. There is dolphin viewing and bike riding to be had. A visit to the beach takes about 15 minutes by bike, on the way down, it is a bit harder on the way up so beware:) If you like being a bit away from it all, but still with plenty of things to do in a friendly and ...

belle mare plage hotel

Advantages: variety of activities and nice food
Disadvantages: a bit isolated

...stayed in a villa @ Belle Mare Plage for our honeymoon. The accomodation was amazing and the facilities, bars, restaurants, everything was fab. The food is fantastic, the buffets are lovely, every food you could possibly imagine! There are free watersports inc waterskiing, pedalos, glass bottom boat ride and snorkelling - the snorkelling was excellent, loads of fish on the reefs. Ther is a gym with various classes including yoga and a spa which did ...
...that it is isolated, there is a town nearby that you can walk/cycle to but it's quite a trek, other than that its a taxi ride anywhere so you are pretty much stuck in the hotel on a night, they do have entertainment, dancers or a live band. We are saving up to go back asap! Highly recommended, a brilliant holiday. ...

Heaven on Earth!

Advantages: Relaxing, idyllic, great food, perfect for weddings and honeymoon
Disadvantages: Having to leave!

I went to Le Cannonier for 14 nights for my wedding and honeymoon and I couldn't have asked for more. From the minute we set foot into the resort on the sweltering day - I will never forget it - the smell, the sound, the whole thing. We were greeted with a cocktail and a freezing cold flannel that smelt of heaven before we were shown to our room. The room was lovely, airconditioned and modern with idyllic views. Our bed had been laiden with flowers ...
...lifted from our shoulders soon after our arrival, we even seemed to walk slower! Having read several reviews before going we didn't have such high expectations for the food but were pleasantly surprised. The was always a huge selection from meats to pizza and pasta to salads and vegetables. Delectable desserts and fruit were always hard deny yourself! You could never go hungry as food was available just about all the time, plus your mini fridge ...
