Shop 'til you drop (and you just might)

Advantages: Everything under one roof, shopper's paradise...
Disadvantages: Can get very busy, hot,

...this is very real - Meadowhall centre - and I think that even those with a complete aversion to shopping might wanna pay attention.

I'm a huge fan of the shopping centres - everything you want under one roof, no need to worry about the weather or having to trek from one side of a town to the other (though some of these places are the size of a small town, granted) everything is convenient and practical. That's the theory. In practice, ...
...shopping - if I'm not, Meadowhall is the stuff of my worst nightmares. Otherwise, it's probably my favourite place to go shopping.

-- First things first, where is Meadowhall? --
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Meadowhall is located to the north of Sheffield, a little way out from the city centre. It's located on some old steelworks site, surrounded by quite a lot of tired looking industrial type buildings, including ... more

Meadowhall My Local Shop (Updated)

Advantages: Shop Til You Drop
Disadvantages: Can Get Crowded on Rainy Days

...live within a mile of Meadowhall Shopping Centre. I can see the familiar big glass dome of Oasis (the food hall) from where I live. I remember when I first saw it, I asked my boyfriend what it was as I first spotted it at night all lit up like a christmas tree. Me: 'Hey whats that dome thingy over towards Sheffield?' Him: 'Oh thats the Murderhell Dome' (his affectionate name for the place) Me: 'Meadowhall? That close?' Him: *Silent* Me: 'Oh ...
...3 year love affair with Meadowhall Shopping Centre. My Fiancee knows when I go there I won't be half an hour, I just cannot walk past all those shops in half an hour! Ridiculous to suggest. No I like to take my time and browse. He used to take me every Saturday. But I noticed a pattern developing> We would spend a few hours in Meadowhall....come home......and it would be ' I'm too tired to go out tonight, knackered from shopping ' So it didnt take ...

HELP SHES WRITING A SHOPPING REVIEW

Advantages: Lots - if you like spending CASH
Disadvantages: Lots - if the old money chips are down (then please don't go)!

...in a different light! Meadowhall then, the demure palace of steel-city (that’s Sheffield to you!) capitalism, as seen from the outside, looks like a mix between a ‘blocky’ building-brick concrete jungle and a glass and light-encrusted fairyland. See it ‘by night’ and you may well think Christmas has come early in South Yorkshire (as so it ought). It is large enough to be called ‘large’ but once inside is ...
...The choice of shops that Meadowhall houses is actually quite amazing and I suppose that you could stereotypically refer to the cliché here that ‘there is something for everyone’. Large stores include, Marks and Spencers, House of Fraser, Debenhams, W H Smith, H & M, Next, Boots, and Sainsbury’s, whilst small(er) stores range from anything from the chains (Principles, River Island, Benetton, Ravel, Monsoon, Gap, (and far too many ...

Meadowhall Or Meadowhell - That Is The Question

Advantages: All The High Street Name plus Some Smaller Less Well Know Shops
Disadvantages: BUSY!

Now, Meadowhall shoppers can be roughly categorised into two major groups – the Shoppers and the Husbands* . The Shoppers will dash around the hundreds of stores collecting a wide array of bags of varying sizes and colours. The Husbands invariably get to carry this wide array of bags fulfilling a valuable service, but as the numbers increase their good mood diminishes. In fact Shopper Happiness levels seem to be inversely proportional to Husband ...
...The History Bit Meadowhall opened on September 4th 1990, amid a fair few complaints from Sheffield shop keepers and customers alike. At this time the main shopping area in Sheffield was The Moor and Fargate in the city centre – these areas had been suffering from lack of trade and many shops had been shutting. Many people felt that this out-of-town shopping centre would attract all the major High street names leaving the city centre to die. ...

My FAVOURITE Place to Shop and Relax

Advantages: all the usual high street names, plenty of restaurants for evening entertainment - and a Cinema
Disadvantages: you might run out of money - so take 'him' along!

...that apart, where better than Meadowhall Shopping Centre to browse around acres of Shops and much, much more? I know that there are plenty of other popular Centres to do your shopping and obviously, living within easy access of the DREADED M25, places like the new Bluewater and the even more established Lakeside at Thurrock, should be #1. But I was never much of a fanof the really huge Shopping Centres, much preferring the likes of Peterborough's ...
...know everything that the wondeful Meadowhall has to offer, why not take a trip to www.meadowhall.co.uk. The big plus point for me is that it's very easy to park and the place is so big that even when very busy it does not seem over-crowded. There are plenty of cash point machines around at the entrances, so you can always get a refill out of hubby's account if you run short after buying that 'must get' pair of shoes. When you need to sit down and ...

Pizza not so Express

Advantages: The pizza's taste dead fresh, there not too big,t eh dough balls are yummy!!
Disadvantages: Annoying staff!!Abit slow getting the food

Pizza Express dont make me laugh!!!!This place has never seen express!! I have been twice now, both times to one in Meadowhall, Sheffield. As soon as you go to the door the staff are quick in finding you a seat, thats where the express finishes... Me & my boyfriend decided on our table outside, away from the chit chat & noice inside(and hopefully away from the harrasment of the waitresses!!!) Instead we were sat outside, with hungry shoppers staring at us like a dog stares in the butchers shop!!!!! We sat down at the American Syle table and chairs(tacky chome)with the most wierdist flower i have ever seen in my life stuck in a vase in the middle of the table. The waitress gives you your menu, a sheet of card that is about a foot long, and asks what drink you'd like, bearing in mind you havent even looked at your menu yet ...

Special sheffield

Advantages: Bigger than you'd believe
Disadvantages: City centre has gone down plughole

Sheffield Important facts: Sheffield fourth biggest city in England Pop. 525000 Main football clubs Sheffield Wednesday, Sheffield United. Main shopping area: Meadowhall. Sheffield is a city of contrasts. the inner city is bad, but on the outskirts is the peak district. A great place for walks. Sheffield is officially the greenest city with 7 big parks. We have the biggest teaching hospital in UK the NORTHERN GENERAL. Graves Park is one of the biggest parks in England. Parson's Cross is also the biggest council estate in Europe. Meadowhall has ripped the heart of Sheffield city centre which is now mainly full of charity shops and pound shops. There is mass development in the city centre at the moment so we look a giant buiding site. In about three years we will have to see the if the effects have been good or bad on our dying ...

Review of Sheffield in general

A mouthwatering experience...Very happy all round!

Advantages: Delicious food, good atmosphere, good service
Disadvantages: Can't think of any...

We went shopping at Meadowhall in Sheffield last night and I decided to check out the internet for any vouchers that I could use to eat at any of the restaurants there. I found a 50% voucher for La Tasca and thought I would print it out and take it with us just in case, a long with a few others. We shopped until we dropped and then went in search of the food hall. We had never been to La Tasca before and stood and read the menu before we went in and showed our voucher. The food sounded great....and Wow! It was! I ordered loads...to the enjoyment of everyone else in the restaurant :-( I felt like I was putting on a show when the food came out. The table was completely full of different pots and plates full of food! I am a size 10 and eat like a horse! I had Calamari, King Prawns, Lamb with prunes and sultanas, some sort of spicy ...
