Mears are being used by Virgin Holidays and are just about everywhere in and around Orlando, they do the Hotel Transfers ... ...when I telephoned for a Mears Taxi they kept me hanging on and more often than not the taxi never turned up..

I booked a Taxi 3 or 4 days in advance to take us to the Orlando Airport to catch the flight on our departure day and despite having a booking reference number the Taxi never turned up and Mears Operator claimed no knowledge of ever having recieved a booking, I complained to the Virign Rep, who telephoned ... more

Mears are being used by Virgin Holidays and are just about everywhere in and around Orlando, they do the Hotel Transfers to and from the airport, Virgin Holiday excursions, plus transportation from the hotles to all the Theme parks, and in addition they also run a large taxi company, who serve all destinations withing the Orlando and Kissimee areas..

I have to say that with a couple of exceptions the drivers were at best non-communicative, rude and just darn ignorant, the Coaches were second rate and ALWAYS late I don't believe the word watch or clock figures in their vocabulary , in fact some of the time they simply never turned up at all, when I telephoned for a Mears Taxi they kept me hanging on and more often than not the taxi never turned up..

Mears Buses used mostly by Virgin are not a patch on Stor Coaches whom Virgin used to use in their Orlando operations..

If you are travelling to Orlando, take my advice and avoid using Mears Transportation, give your hard earned money to someone who appreciates it......there are plenty of other transportation companies in the Orlando area who do treat you properly..if you have any problems and your Rep isn't around go to the Guest relations desk in your Hotel lobby all the good hotels have one ! they will advise you and even call a cab for you..
BUT IF YOU WANT A WORRY FREE TIME IN ORLANDO GIVE MEARS A WIDE BERTH !

We told the customer service representative we would be staying at the Grosvenor Resort for 4 days and asked him what the best means of transportation would be. He said that a shuttle would take us back and forth to downtown Disney, but that we would need transportation outside of the park. He said that for 4 days, we could get transportation ANYWHERE outside of the park with this 4 day $148 ... ...to make our reservations with Mears 24 hours in advance, just like you are supposed to, and we were surprised to find that Dixie Stampede was not covered under the "super pass", and the charge would be an extra $24. Now, when you are told that a "super pass" will take you any place outside of downtown Disney, wouldn't you assume that Dixie Stampede would be part of that any place? I don't understand why Mears Transportation are getting so many bad reviews. I used their shared minibus service yesterday - 31 January - and was very pleased with the service. I booked my one-way ticket on the Mears Transportation website 48 hours before travelling and at a cost of $20.00. Upon arrival in Orlando, the company's desk was clearly signposted and I was assisted by a friendly member of staff when using the self-service ticket machine. ... ...and was told there would be a wait of approximately 30 minutes. After exactly 30 minutes, the pager I had been given bleeped and I knew that was my signal to go back to the bus stop.
The driver introduced herself to me, asked how I was and explained that I was the only passenger on this trip. She invited me to sit in the front seat and chatted non-stop through the journey.
I would highly recommend the service to anybody, especially lone travellers ...

Quick review of Mears Transportation (Orlando)
No idea what there are all these bad reviews of mears, i've always had very good service. I've used them countless times to go to the various theme parks and they've always been on time both going and returning.
I used them a week a go to go to my hotel and the shuttle bus arrived within 15 minutes of me going to the pick up point at the airport and the return journey they were bang on time.
would always use them again and would recommend them to anyone ...

Located the Mears website to reserve transportation from Orlando Airport to local hotel. Navigated through the details of my reservation; destination, flight information and dates. Clicked through the confirm reservation and entered my credit card infomration. The confirm screen redisplayed and as a result was unable to pay.
Clicked on the "Contact Us" link and only local phone numbers are displayed with a physical mailing address. In the age of ... ...an email link. What is the purpose of a website if you cannot schedule customer pickup or allow electronic contact? Obviously not a PeopleSoft CRM solution! When considering a website make sure the website is functional. And identify your customer base. In this case the customer is traveling from outside the state of Florida. Either provide a "Toll Free" phone number or a customer service web link. ...

...recently had an issue with Mears when I booked one of their towncars to collect me at Orlando Int Airport but the driver was not waiting for me. This was due to incorrect advice given to me by one of their representatives by phone when I made the booking. However, although the driver was not there, after a short delay I was collected and I arrived on time at my destination. In hindsight this was a fairly trivial inconvenience.

Advantages: In the heart of the action; A Disney Vacation Club Resort Disadvantages: You get what you pay for
more tendency for sounds to reverberate from neighbours. Bath tubs take an age to fill and are noisy when emptying. Cistern flushes are also quite noticeable particularly through the night.
Transport experiences are variable. Each bus is supposed to run on a 30 minute schedule. It is however quite easy to get to a destination by another undocumented route and see a lot more of WDW in doing so. Just missed the bus to Epcot? Try bussing to MGM Studios and then talking the launch. This brings you to the International Gateway, a much quieter entrance into World Showcase. The bus to the Magic Kingdom went early? Go to Epcot, transfer to the Monorail to the Ticketing Center and then cross the lake.
If your vacation will be spent wholly 'on property' you may not need to hire a car. Disney have now made an arrangement with MearsTransport ...
