We were only in Medellin for two days and we went to so that my friends could vist family and so that I could visit the Botero Museum that I had been whinging on about for days. It was also an excuse to experience the city after so long in the countryside. It was a bit of a culture shock at first and there were times when we felt a bit threatened on the street but this was probably just paranoia as in fact we had a great time. The museum is well worth making the trip. The square outside is absolutely full of bronzes which children play on, you can touch and lie on, and generally just love! It is a magnificent sight and although it is a bit of a traffic island it is surrounded by beautiful buildings and the hustle and bustle of daily life, the colourful buses, the flower sellers and the balloon man seemed to complete the picture. We had coffe on the terrace and watched the world go by before setting off for the hills again. Delicious.
