Advantages: Cheap beer, good food Disadvantages: not very central
The title will require a bit of explanation – namely that “Mädl” is a commonly used dialect term for a “girl” – probably akin to “lass” in English. Well I indeed went to the Medl Bräu with a Mädl. For those with any knowledge of German, you’ll know that of course the place is a brewery, and of course brewery means beer. So being taking to a brewery by a lady-friend must come quite close to paradise for most guys!
Unlike many of the places that I ... ...central, being tucked away in the backend of the city, in Penzing, but nevertheless is reachable by public transport, with a short walk (well 10 minutes) from Ober St Veit on the U4, by taking the 52 tram or the 49, down the Linzerstraße, and the Medl Bräu is located at 275 Linzerstrasse (and yes you’re right if you think that in theory that you’d get to Linz if you carried on down the Linzerstrasse for long enough!).
