! We also had wonderful ice cream sundaes. They were simpler than some here but tastier. It was washed down with Belgian beer. My favorite is cherry beer (kreik) but my sister thought it was disgusting. The bill was about 60 euros for four people.
There are plenty of sandwich shops and kiosks for a cheap lunch. We found a place just off the Grand Place that sold nice cheese toasties and the shop assistant was very friendly.
Unfortunately we did not drink in any bars as time was very short. We did visit a supposedly art deco bar but it was small and expensive so we left ( we were also very tired)
Belgium is also home to chocolate. However the weather was very hot and humid so I did not want to bring a squishy mess home so just stocked up on cherry beer instead.
I really would recommend Brussels. I know there is a cliché of it being dull ...

Its lunch time Teddy, Lets get out that new wooden box/crate from Bigjigs. It measures 14x20cm. It has sliding Perspex lid easy to open. There are 10 pieces in this box.
First let?s get that wooden knife out. There is a wooden cutting board too just like mummy?s, only a bit smaller. . Now there are some wooden slices of bread, these have a small piece of Velcro stuck to the centre of them.
Now what do you want in your sandwich. There is a slice of wooden ham or a slice of wooden processed cheese. There is also a slice of tomato. And a bright green lettuce leaf each of these has a piece of Velcro attached to it. Making a sandwich is easy just choose your desired filling and Velcro it on to the slice of wooden bread then close the sandwich by putting another piece of bread on top line it up so the bread Velcro?s to ...
Thomas the tank is popular with most boys as with my son. He is bored the minute that he appears on TV but still recognizes many of the characters and is excited when he spots Thomas items.
I picked up this lunch pack so that we could take out a packed lunch to save a bit of cash.
what is it?
The lunch bag is in the traditional Thomas blue colours with a shoulder length strap that is adjustable so ideal for little ones to carry but equally important for me is a suitable length to hang on the buggy. It also has a carry handle which my son likes to use when carrying his lunch to the car trying to be a big boy.
