...It was about two years ago now when I went to Vietnam with a friend as part of my year out. We spent three weeks there traveling from Ho Chi Minh up the coast to Hanoi. We spent two nights in NhaTrang on the way up.
After an 8 hour bus ride from Ho Chi Minh City we arrived in NhaTrang and found a hotel that cost ony $5 a night between us, so it was the cheapest hotel we found all trip.
At first we were quite wary of people because we had read that NhaTrang was quite a dodgy place for street crime, but we had no problems at all.
To get around in NhaTrang you have two choices, the back of a motorbike, or on a cyclo. Cyclos are cheaper but motobikes get you around quicker, and can go further afield. The prices you could expect to pay when I was there was about 10000 dong which was about 50p for a short trip. You could probably...

Advantages: The sites and culture Disadvantages: My two days of food poisoning
...I went to NhaTrang feeling a little bit out of the ordinary as I am half-American and have a very broad American accent. However, I had nothing to fear. As I was flying over NhaTrang looking out of the window I saw some of the most beautiful sites, that I think I will ever see in my life.
NhaTrang is located on the coast of Vietnam and has a number of small islands surrounding it. These are alive with trees, and animals of all kinds.
Hotels:
The Hotels in NhaTrang vary from what you are looking for. If you want something that is very cheap and some where just to sleep then you can get rooms for 2 dollars a night, sorry but most things are paid for in dollars so if I refure to them a lot I am sorry as it is what I paid in.
You are also able to get hotels, which are a little more expensive around25 dollars a night...

...In coming from NhaTrang I found Hoi An to be a refreshing change without too many hawkers and pickpockets. It is much more layed back and full of bars overlooking the river.
After two days there we not only knew the bar staff but the dog and regulars. This is how much of a friendly place it is. One bar I would recommend was the Zanzibar. It’s a five minute walk out of the centre but is well worth it for the food and friendly manager and bar staff.
On spending New Year 2001 there the celebrations were excellent and we joined in with the locals. While Hoi An does not have that many bars that open late, there are more than enough.
One reason why people visit Hoi An is there is a tailors shop every three houses. The going rate for a suit is $25 for a Jacket and two pairs of pants. These are made in 24 hrs. You just pick...
