Member Advice on Chain Hotels: Marriott

For some time, I have been a devotee of the Swallow group of Hotels, as I consider that together with the De Vere group, they stand head and shoulders above the rest of the larger groups of Hotels. It was with some trepidation, however, that I heard some time ago, that they had been taken over by the Marriott Group. This change to an American Group worried me at first. I have spent many a night at he Marriott Hotels , on the whole they are good hotels more so the ones that used to be Swallow Hotels that were took over . They have a policy if the hotels full they will over book , this is quite common so if you turn up late and the hotel is full you may find your self "out booked " not very nice if you have drove 300 miles tired hungry needing a bath, to find you have to travel another 20 mile to the nearest Marriott in the late of night to find there restaurant has closed, leisure club ,has closed and all that you have to eat is a boil in a bag room service ... more
