Rey Carlos Menorca

Advantages: Location
Disadvantages: Not on the beach?

...and I stayed at the Rey Carlos III for a week, half board in July 2009. The Rey Carlos hotel is in the small town of Es Castell, which is about 2 miles from Mahon (Mao) the capital of Menorca. Es Castell is a small town not a holiday resort but it does have a very pretty harbour front at Cala Fonts with many restaurants and bars, which is about a five-minute walk from the hotel. There is also a very small local supermarket around the corner from ...
...location right on the harbour side with the most wonderful views. If you want a hotel near a beach this is not the hotel for you, although if you hire a car Menorca has more beaches than all the other Balearic Islands put together. We found the hotel itself is comfortable and relaxing. Many of the guests that we met there had come back year after year. Our room had complimentary bottle of wine (unexpected), twin beds, my husband found his rather ...

Why I keep going back to the Sur Menorca

Advantages: Excellent place for young children.
Disadvantages: Quite a way from the main village, but reflected in the price.

...a free mini-bus from the hotel that runs every 10 minutes or so. There's also a road-train that runs from Punta Prima right through to Binibeca, and while it's not cheap, it's a nice round-trip and keeps kids amused for a while - and Binibeca is lovely. I would definitely recommend this hotel, especially for families. The entertainment isn't great, but it's ok, and I prefer to get back to the room and chill out with the kids in bed!! Another reason ...

San Luis hotel

Advantages: sports facilities, clean hotel, good food, friendly staff
Disadvantages: quiet for teenagers at night, lack of beach

Having just returned from Hotel San Luis We would like to say what a great time we had. The hotel is kept spotlessly clean especially as we went in August when it is at it's busiest. The food although a bit repetitive is excellent and there is always something you like (even when you have fussy children)! The rooms are cleaned thoroughly daily and clean bed linen and towels changed daily too. The entertainment is very good generally and the children's ...
...well worth considering as drinks can be very expensive. Ice creams are free as well as unlimited drinks, crisps, nuts etc. Staff are very friendly and helpful and you can hire beach towels for a refundable deposit of 10 euros each. Sports facilities are a godsend for teenagers as is the spotless pool area. We will definitely be returning to this hotel in the near future. ...

Blanc Palace

Advantages: Clean, Helpful staff, Reasonable
Disadvantages: Can be noisy

...holiday staying in the Blanc Palace complex and on the whole found I to be a nice place to stay. The complex is fairly large so there is a bit of a walk to the further rooms from the reception and bar areas, the rooms were functional and clean some might say a little basic but nothing that would spoil your holiday, the room we were in did face the main road and at certain times of the day & night could be a little noisy with general traffic and ...
...as quite a lot of tiled floor hotels it does suffer from the terrible noise of furniture being dragged across the floors above you. The main pool is fairly large, clean and deep with a children's pool by the side of it with plenty of sun beds which aren't allowed to be reserved with the towel scenario, the pool side bar had the normal snacks and refreshments that you would expect, we did find the price in the bar higher than we expected but that ...

worth a vist

Advantages: lovely resort
Disadvantages: none

Son Bou We stayed at the Son Bou gardens for 2wks from 21.5.08. Transfer from the airport takes approx 25 mins. Son Bou Gardens stretches over several zones. The apartments are built into a hillside so there are small steps everywhere. Not much of a problem unless you use a wheelchair or have a pushchair but there's usually a grass slope both sides & the occasional ramp. Reception Is situated a few minutes walk from zone 3. The staff were friendly ...
...for your return journey to Son Bou. In Mahon turn left when you get off the bus, cross the road & head downhill for the shops. Supermarket/shops There are several supermarkets. We found the cheapest was the one near the entrance to Andreas. There's a good selection of gift shops selling the usual tourist stuff but shop around prices vary a lot. Beach Is approx 10 mins walk away. It has a lovely stretch of sand & gently sloping sea & wasn't over ...
