Mirador Des Concrete Works! Advantages: Excellent Location Disadvantages: No major ones Mirador Des Concrete Works! We decided to spend a long weekend in Minorca’s Capital, Mahon and found this hotel through Octopus Travel; we paid £454.00 for 4 night’s bed and breakfast for three adults in a triple room over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend. Location: 8½/10 The Hotel is situated in a nice quiet residential area about ten minutes walk from the centre of Mahon and only 5kms from the airport. It is set on a cliff above the port which ... ...the back of the hotel or by a large set of steps from the centre of the city. Appearance: 8½/10 Quite modern and well kept, with a large terrace area at the side. Parking: 0/10 None! Be warned if you hire a car as you will have to park some way from the hotel and the local police just love to ticket hire cars! San Luis hotel Advantages: sports facilities, clean hotel, good food, friendly staff Disadvantages: quiet for teenagers at night, lack of beach Having just returned from Hotel San Luis We would like to say what a great time we had. The hotel is kept spotlessly clean especially as we went in August when it is at it's busiest. The food although a bit repetitive is excellent and there is always something you like (even when you have fussy children)! The rooms are cleaned thoroughly daily and clean bed linen and towels changed daily too. The entertainment is very good generally and the children's ... ...well worth considering as drinks can be very expensive. Ice creams are free as well as unlimited drinks, crisps,nuts etc. Staff are very friendly and helpful and you can hire beach towels for a refundable deposit of 10 euros each. Sports facilities are a godsend for teenagers as is the spotless pool area. Grupotel Macarella Advantages: Relaxing and Luxurious Disadvantages: Not a huge range of facilities The Grupotel Macarella stands just behind the marina of Cala n Bosch. The reception has a staircase up to the pool area and lifts situated round the hotel offer easy access to the various floors. The hotel Macarella sets standards with its food which is excellent and fresh meats cooked fresh for you when you go up to the buffet area. The restaurant and tables are set out for a good dining experience. Entertainment is sparse, but its own entertainers ... ...holiday or stay at the Grupotel Macarella. I personally would make this my first choice of hotel when visiting Menorca (along with the resort). A simple walk across the road brings you to the heart of the marina which is always busy in the evenings if the hotels local entertainment does not take your fancy. Although I mentioned it lacked many facilities I wouldnt use this to deter you from staying here. I would recommend this hotel any day! ... Why I keep going back to the Sur Menorca Advantages: Excellent place for young children. Disadvantages: Quite a way from the main village, but reflected in the price. ...a free mini-bus from the hotel that runs every 10 minutes or so. There's also a road-train that runs from Punta Prima right through to Binibeca, and while it's not cheap, it's a nice round-trip and keeps kids amused for a while - and Binibeca is lovely. I would definitely recommend this hotel, especially for families. The entertainment isn't great, but it's ok, and I prefer to get back to the room and chill out with the kids in bed!! Blanc Palace Advantages: Clean, Helpful staff, Reasonable Disadvantages: Can be noisy ...holiday staying in the Blanc Palace complex and on the whole found I to be a nice place to stay. The complex is fairly large so there is a bit of a walk to the further rooms from the reception and bar areas, the rooms were functional and clean some might say a little basic but nothing that would spoil your holiday, the room we were in did face the main road and at certain times of the day & night could be a little noisy with general traffic and ... ...as quite a lot of tiled floor hotels it does suffer from the terrible noise of furniture being dragged across the floors above you. The main pool is fairly large,clean and deep with a children's pool by the side of it with plenty of sun beds which aren't allowed to be reserved with the towel scenario, the pool side bar had the normal snacks and refreshments that you would expect, we did find the price in the bar higher than we expected but that ...
