The Thistle Caledonian Aberdeen is sited at 10-14 Union Terrace, Aberdeen, Only a few minutes walk (even for me) from the railway station. Though there is parking available as well so you can drive to it.
A friend and I were going to Aberdeen to attend a conference and AGM and accommodation was at a premium. I use hotel Connexions to find cheap accommodation and they came up with the 'Cally' as locals and taxi drivers call it. For myself and a friend we could get a twin room plus breakfast for £120.
I booked it there and then, incurring a £2 booking fee but by then i was getting desperate as I wanted somewhere near the station and also near the Beach leisure Centre for the venue of AGM, conference and dance.
We arrived at 12:45 but could not get access to the rooms till 2:00pm. this was pushing it a bit but the very friendly ...
Advantages: Great food, homely, clean and tidy Disadvantages: Hard to get to if you don't have a car, not much for veggies
We have been going to the Ashvale since we were small children. Our parents always used to take us there for a treat (I even had a couple of birthday parties there!) The Ashvale Restaurant in Aberdeen was the first of the Ashvale Restaurants to open and it opened in 1985.
The Ashvale is only found in Scotland and has around 12 restaurants, mostly situated in the North East of Scotland.
Not only is the Ashvale in Aberdeen a restaurant but it also the Ashvale take away attached to it. I have only used the take away a couple of times but have been impressed.
The menu in the restaurant is not that extensive, but it is really homely and good food. I think that it has something for everyone on it. You can choose from starters, main courses and desserts. Not everything is battered and deep fried!! The menu is great value for money ...
