Advantages free transport to the museum and free entry
Disadvantages have to stay in the museum complex at all times
If the nearest you will ever get to owning a Mercedes is in your dreams then this museum is well worth visiting as you get close up to loads of lovely classic cars.
To start off you have to park your car away from the museum and take the courtesy bus into the site. This is because the museum is situated within the Mercedes factories and I guess it enables the company to ensure that you do not wander off to places where you shouldnt go.Entry into the museum is free which is a lovely surprise. You are given an audio machine (rather liek a telephone) which gives a really detailed description of each car that you see. This is really good as you choose the language you want it to speak in and you control the speed in which you go round the museum. The first exhibit is supposedly the first ever motor car and every exhibit from the early vintage models to the sportscars are in excellent condition. There are some really good examples of Mercedes vintage classics, my favourite being the 1964 saloon, the year I was born!!!
Not every model is featured but you really do learn about the development of Mercedes through the years. For instance you discover that Mercedes is named after a lady with that name (I will not say any more as it will spoil the surprise)You can take photos whenever you want and the staff are very helpful. The museum is really clean and spacious. There is a good cafe wher eagain the staff are very helpful. Finally the shop...... here you can buy your own Mercedes (even though it is only matchbox size!!! There are lots of lovely gifts too.
The museum is going to be relocated next year to a new site in the city. Construction is underway at the moment and this multibillion pound project is worth seeing just for the sheer size of it.There you have it, anyone interested in cars will appreciate this museum, and will enjoy about two hours in it. Another bonus is that the Porsche museum is also a mere 3 kms away so a good day can be had in Stuttgart viewing both.

Nicely written and interesting, if a little too short. Laters!
