Biarritz:A long way but worth the effort

Advantages: good weather, good surf, nice beaches, nice ambience
Disadvantages: long drive, horrendous storms

We drove from Roscoff Ferry terminal through Brittany down to Bidart, just south of Biarritz. We stayed with Eurosites at a camp called Des Pins. The site was good. The toilets and showers were kept very clean. The tent was good and the facilities satisfactory. There is a tennis court, shop on the campsite, games area for the children but nothing in the evening apart from the bar. The beaches are a mere five minutes walk away and the surf is splendid. The nearby (10 minutes) village of Bidart has good shops and nice bars. There's also entertainment in the village square on many nights of the week. Biarritz is extremely clean and is beautifully lit up at night. There are often very special events centred on surfing festivals. This can be very exciting and quite spectacular. Don't waste your £ on the luxury rooms - Crowne Plaza Manchester

Advantages: Location. New and modern
Disadvantages: Awful club level package. Decor not to everyones taste.

Owing to the recession the hotel industry has been one of the hardest hit areas and as such, we have seen some of the most excellent deals come out as room rates drop back to prices charged in the 1990?s. Staying in the UK for the summer I decided to take advantage of some of these rates and looked into the special offers available from Crowne Plaza. As a treat for myself and the other half, I decided we would go to Manchester for the weekend. It is a city I haven?t really explored much before and thought it would be a good weekend trip. I had seen the newly opened Crowne Plaza on this years Apprentice and the hotel and rooms looked very modern and stylish and when I saw the promotional prices I thought why the hell not and off we went. Perfect break in Amsterdam's Crowne Plaza

Advantages: Location is superb. Very comfortable, great facilities and superb staff!
Disadvantages: Nothing, apart from the uncertainty regarding the on-line booking

Amsterdam is home to three Crowne Plaza hotels; there's one at Schiphol airport, there's the "Americaine", and then there's the "Crowne Plaza City Centre". It's at the latter that we recently had the pleasure of staying. Five minutes' walk from the Centraal (sic) Station which, itself, is a one-stop, 3.90 Euro, journey from Schiphol airport, I thought that its location was absolutely ideal. This review breaks the mould - amongst other things. I am usually travelling with my wife, Amanda, and the nearly-three-years-old baby Josh. Amsterdam, however, is no place for a toddler and it was thus that I found myself on a trip away with two good friends, Mark and Chris. Oh dear!
