Nancy Drew: Super Sleuth

In her hometown of River Heights, Nancy Drew is famous for being a sleuth; even the local police forced looks up to her, and it seems she can put no foot wrong. Then she moves away from home temporarily with her father, Carson Drew, who has been assigned a legal case in California and wants Nancy to concentrate on being a teenager rather than a sleuth. At her new school, Nancy is looked upon as a bit of a geek with obsessional tendencies. Luckily, she manages to rise above her tormentors, and she finds a new case. The house that the Drews are renting previously belonged to a famous actress, now deceased, but there has always been suspicion about her death and a possible inheritance. Sid and Nancy.. Love Kills

Advantages: Gary Oldman rocks, you can scare your kids into not doing heroin!!
Disadvantages: The start of the film is pants, Chole Webb's portrayal of Nancy makes you cringe

Sid and Nancy.. a match made in hell or a match that was so perfect it just couldn?t last? Review of Sid And Nancy (DVD)

London Mercure - just what the doctor ordered!

Advantages: Very close to Tate Modern, and Southwark tube station
Disadvantages: Located on the other side of the river from the likes of Oxford Street

I stayed at the London Mercure London City last weekend as part of a birthday treat from my boyfriend (I believe he booked it as part of a deal with rail tickets/show tickets/hotel, so am unable to tell you how much the hotel costs separately!). We stayed there for one night (a Saturday) after spending the day shopping in Oxford Street and the evening watching Phantom of the Opera at the London Palladium. We were able to check-in from 2 o'clock onwards, and we arrived at approximately 5pm. We were greeted at reception by a member of staff and a trainee, and were offered a smoking or non-smoking room. We opted for a non-smoking room and were given room 502 on the 5th floor. Room 502 is just a few steps away from the lift, and is forwards facing so you can see straight out into Southwark Street.
