Mercure Grand Hotel Saxe Lafayette, Lyon

Disadvantages: Very bad experience

...I strongly advise travellors to avoid Grand Mercure Bangkok for following reasons: 1. What you see in the photos is NOT what you stay, especially some of the deluxe rooms have not been renovated at all and feel entirely old (1-star?). This is very dishonest because we get an impression of the hotel in pictures that is far from reality. 2. They confirmed my internet booking but on arrival were unable to provide the non-smoking room reserved and put me in a smoking room on a smoking floor. They offered NO REFUNDS even if I wanted to change hotel. 3. They promised to move me to a non-smoking room the next day, even told me the new room number -- but the next day they gave that room to another customer and told me to stay in the same room as the hotel was fully booked. 4. Advantages: Superb Facilities, Excellent Price, Lions on show!
Disadvantages: None.

...Las Vegas is synonymous with many things including opulence, splendour, outrageous facilities and everything "larger than life". Price, is one thing that is usually not associated with Las Vegas, however. Nevertheless, the MGM Grand Casino can now finally put that expensive reputation to rest. The MGM Grand is officially the second largest hotel in the world and offers superb facilitied, excellent sized rooms with superb levels of cleanliness and very helpful staff. The Casino itself is wonderful, as expected along with a vast array of restaurants with many resident super chefs. Along with all this you have the added bonus of an area where you can see real life lions who are in fact descendents of the original MGM lions! Overall a superb hotel and a superb experience. Advantages: Style without too much cost

...Stayed at the Hotel for the weekend 18/19 Feb 06. Relieved to find this was a delightful establishment, very clean, friendly hotel. En-suite rooms were relatively large, VERY comfortable, well decorated. Cleanliness is top of my list of priorities and this definitely fitted the bill. Nice licensed bar, evening meals (didn't sample those). Breakfast was well cooked 'English' plus toast and cereal - excellent, not the greasy stuff you get in some places. Hotel located an easy short walk from most popular destinations in the area! We were a 'hen' party of 13 but had given assurances that we were not immature, rowdy, drunken types (true). There were also a couple of other single females there and 3 lads, all of which behaved impeccably, we probably all rolled home at various times in the small hours but there wasn't any late night doors...
