Advantages: Location, freindly helpful staff Disadvantages: bit tired/dated
We are just back from 4 nights in The WellingtonHotel. We booked it back in Jan'07 thru an online hotel booking site (I may have mentioned it in other reviews) We also booked flights directly with BA thru their website.
We had stayed in NewYork about 2 years ago in a YMCA in the upper westside. However as my oldies were coming with us we had to book a hotel.
We booked a suite at The Wellington for around £780 for 4 adults for 4 nights and the BA flights from ABZ cost around £1,200 for the 4 of us.
We arrived at JFK around 1600hrs and after clearing immigration and a lenghty taxi journey we arrived at the hotel about 1800hrs.
The hotel looked impressive from outside, the lights of Times Square were visable from the front door. The reception area is very nice, a huge chandalier greets you. The reception desk is small and quite ...
Advantages: good convinient location, exceptionally clean, very good price Disadvantages: A bit dated, very busy, staff are not always available
Most people know New York City as the city that never sleeps or the big apple. Whatever you name New York City it is the largest city in America and has much to offer visitors all around the world. Traveling to New York gave me the opportunity to explore this wonderful City. There is so much to do and see that I was never bored. Travelling through New York is easy as most places are within walking distance and if not you can get a tube or bus.
There are many hotels to choose from and finding the right one can be a difficult choice. We chose The WellingtonHotel. I thought it was the right decision when I booked it and as soon as I saw the hotel I knew I had made the right decision. The outside of the hotel looks impressive and you can see the lights from Times Square which is really cosy and inviting.

Advantages: Central Location Disadvantages: Room Size
We stayed here in Feb 2008 after booking through an online travel company. We booked our flights with another online company. We were very happy with this mid-range hotel. It has an impressive exterior but we were slightly disappointed with the room sizes and the staff were not overly friendly - constant tipping required in return for information!
The hotel is ideally located 10 mins from Times Square and 5 mins from Central Park. There is an amazing deli opposite the hotel which I would highly recommend after a long day out for a quick bite to eat.
We were offered an upgrade on arrival and the room was average - not very clean but somewhere to rest after a day's sightseeing and shopping. Make sure you take a bus tour and give the outlet village a miss! ...
