...Most people know New York City as the city that never sleeps or the big apple. Whatever you name New York City it is the largest city in America and has much to offer visitors all around the world. Traveling to New York gave me the opportunity to explore this wonderful City. There is so much to do and see that I was never bored. Travelling through New York is easy as most places are within walking distance and if not you can get a tube or bus.
There are many hotels to choose from and finding the right one can be a difficult choice. We chose The WellingtonHotel. I thought it was the right decision when I booked it and as soon as I saw the hotel I knew I had made the right decision. The outside of the hotel looks impressive and you can see the lights from Times Square which is really cosy and inviting.

Advantages: Location, freindly helpful staff Disadvantages: bit tired/dated
...We are just back from 4 nights in The WellingtonHotel. We booked it back in Jan'07 thru an online hotel booking site (I may have mentioned it in other reviews) We also booked flights directly with BA thru their website.
We had stayed in NewYork about 2 years ago in a YMCA in the upper westside. However as my oldies were coming with us we had to book a hotel.
We booked a suite at The Wellington for around £780 for 4 adults for 4 nights and the BA flights from ABZ cost around £1,200 for the 4 of us.
We arrived at JFK around 1600hrs and after clearing immigration and a lenghty taxi journey we arrived at the hotel about 1800hrs.
The hotel looked impressive from outside, the lights of Times Square were visable from the front door. The reception area is very nice, a huge chandalier greets you. The reception desk is small and quite...

Advantages: Simple, quite cheap for New York Disadvantages: Not very modern
...I went to New York back in January 2006, and for me the WellingtonHotel was a great choice!
As I was 18 and it was just me and my partner, we wanted something cheap and cheerful. In the end (including flights) we paid £1,300 for 5 days, which is quite cheap for New York.
When we arrived, everyone is really helpful and offer to take your bags to your room (although n.b. you do have to pay tips!). The rooms are really good value and you get the usual tv, kettle, maSSive bed and good view over central park (depending which side your on).
The hotel also has a little restaurant next door that cooks really nice full english breakfasts, which you can put on your tab (just keep an eye on how much you spend!).
The location of the hotel is great and is close to Toys R Us, Central Park. We spent most our time in Toys R Us...
