Advantages: Close to Cologne Cathedral and shopping areas
Disadvantages: Breakfast expensive 14 euros per person per day

...We booked this hotel throuigh accorhotels.com and it certainly wasn't expensive for the class of hotel. We drove through France to Cologne and found the hotel easily, because it is on a main road. There is a public car park under the hotel which costs 10 euros per day or 1.50 euros per hour, so it could work out expensive if you took the car in and out. We found no reason to take the car anywhere, becauae verything we wanted was within a short walk. Upon arrival we were greeted by a very friendly receptionist who spoke extremely good english. She gave us the choice of a smoking or non smoking room, offered us a tourist map and asked if we needed any information about Cologne. The room was very nice, with air conditioning , internet connection, min bar, room service, television, a supply of shampoo etc, towels and a view over... Read review

Disadvantages: Very bad experience

...I strongly advise travellors to avoid Grand Mercure Bangkok for following reasons: 1. What you see in the photos is NOT what you stay, especially some of the deluxe rooms have not been renovated at all and feel entirely old (1-star?). This is very dishonest because we get an impression of the hotel in pictures that is far from reality. 2. They confirmed my internet booking but on arrival were unable to provide the non-smoking room reserved and put me in a smoking room on a smoking floor. They offered NO REFUNDS even if I wanted to change hotel. 3. They promised to move me to a non-smoking room the next day, even told me the new room number -- but the next day they gave that room to another customer and told me to stay in the same room as the hotel was fully booked. 4. ...Mercure Nestroy in Vienna is a good value for money for a place to stay over holidays or during a business trip. Located a 5 minute walk from a subway station and withing a 20 min walk from the city centre, Mercure is much cheaper than its counterparts just 1 km close to the city centre. The hotel is not impressively decorated, and in general, one should not expect luxury. However, it is very practical. The rooms, for example, are equipped with larger bathrooms than some 5 star hotels in Vienna, the calls from the hotel are reasonably priced, and wireless covering all the hotel is free. All the furniture in the rooms is about functionality, even the tv, mounted above the end of the bed. The rooms are done in a light green and many have windows over the winter garden inside.
