Advantages: Close to everything and fine dining Disadvantages: Can be pricey when events come to town
...I come to Paris at least four time per year and Le Meridien Montparnasse is my top choice when rooms are available.
1. The Gare Montparnasse is just across the street and from there you can access the Metro to all of Paris.
2. The Justine restaurant has a buffet every night that is well worth the 37 Euro price. Excellent food, wine, and service.
3. The rooms are clean, large, and comfortable. Internet service is available in the room for a nominal fee.
4. The staff is friendly and extremely helpful.
5. There is a gift shop in the lobby, a wonderful bar, and two dining choices, The Justine (for more casual dining) and Le Montparnasse 25 for more formal dining and top rated food.
Okay, now the only complaint I can even come up with is that when big events (soccer championships, Paris Air Show, Automobile Convention, etc.) come...

Advantages: amazing panoramic view Disadvantages: roof very windy
...Those of you who read my review on the Arc de Triomphe last week will know that I went to Paris last summer. One of the things that I picked up on whilst over there was the vast number of places that you could visit in order to get a fantastic panoramic view of the city. Of all the places that we visited it was La Tour Montparnasse that offered the greatest view of all; better than the Eiffel tower and without the queues! La Tour Montparnasse is a 689ft tall skyscraper with an express lift which takes you to the top in a matter of seconds. It has 59 floors, 57 of which are used as office space but the other two are open to the public for viewing the city. You can even venture up onto the roof if you're brave enough, however this is not for the faint hearted, its extremely...

Advantages: Reasonably priced for central paris Disadvantages: Small rooms, shabby decor
...We stayed at this hotel in October 2006 and only booked for one night.
We had requested two non-smoking rooms, both with city views. The first room, on the 4th floor, looked out onto a back street and was very small. The second room was also quite small, on the 6th floor and looked onto Rue de Montparnasse, but the smell of stale tobacco hit us as soon as we opened the door into the room.
The beds in both rooms were two singles pushed together and made up as a double. The bed linen was clean, but the smell of tobacco still lingered on the duvet.
The wallpaper in one room was torn and the whole decor seemed tired and in need of refurbishment in both rooms. The bathrooms were very small, with over bath showers, only one set of toiletries supplied which was not really enough for two people in each room.
In the room overlooking...
