The Stunning City Of Salzburg

Advantages: beautiful scenery, superb transport system, lots of things to see
Disadvantages: restaurants close quite early, not much veggie food

My boyfriend Jamie and I have just got back from a 5 day trip to Salzburg in Austria. I bought Jamie the trip to Austria as a present for his last birthday. Here I am reviewing the city of Salzburg. Getting there I booked my flights with Ryanair through the website which I found fairly easy to use. Baring in mind I actually booked the tickets in July 2006 so that prices may have changed since then, but I paid £87.02 for both of us for return flight which I thought was very reasonable. We flew from London Stansted and the flight took an hour and forty minutes. Accommodation We stayed at Hotel Plainbrucke which is located about 15 minute drive from the airport and a ten minute bus journey from the main town. When I was looking to book a hotel online there were lots to choose from so I can't see anyone having a problem trying ...

Salzburg, the sound of Mozart...music

Advantages: Stunning scenery, wonderful place
Disadvantages: not any

Tourism based on ancient and modern - Mozart's music genius in the 1700s, and the tunes of The Sound of Music, famous now for just over 40 years. Salzburg has it all, the music story, wonderful, old, historic buildings and the majestic mountains bordering a lovely, open rural plain. 'The Festival City and its beautiful surrounding countryside' - that's what my glossy tourism book says and I agree through and through. My winter visit was magic. Snow was not as predominant as it usually is in February but enough on the stunning mountains to add the feeling of winter turning to spring. This proved to be just the right time of year for us to explore an old, architectural beauty. Mozart was born here - to be precise he entered the Salzburg scene at 8 o'clock in the evening on the 27th day of January in 1756 at number 9 ...

Salzburg Salt Mines

Advantages: Excellent value for money, interesting, good fun
Disadvantages: A little bit out of town

When my boyfriend and I visited Salzburg in Austria, we decided to take a trip to see the Salt Mines. Getting there was very simple when using the Salzburg card and this also mean that the transport was free too (as the Salzburg Card cover this!). Arriving At The Salt Mines Once you arrive at the Salt Mines, which are well signposted, you need to book in at the reception. You pay here and the price was about £3 each which was very reasonable. Once you have paid, you are taken through into a warehouse type building. In here you can leave any valuables such as bags and shopping etc. You are then given some traditional mining clothes to put on. These consisted of a massive pair of baggy white trousers for the girls and dark blue trousers for the boys. You are both then given a blue jumper type thing and a leather pouch which sits ...
