stressful. For example, you do not have to battle with hundreds of cars to find the last remaining parking space - we used a cheap, spacious park and ride facility about a mile or so from the city. It's amazing how much of a burden it lifts off your shoulders as your bus quickly makes its way to the ramparts. Then, you can try dragging yourself away from the crowded shopping streets. We escaped to explore the beautiful and majestic cathedral of Saint-Vincent - an oasis of calm amid the bustle. And although we later joined the crowds marching along the ramparts, we were able to slip away on to a quiet, picturesque beach to rest our weary legs. St Malo is so much more than a gateway to the rest of France. Take the bait

Advantages: Dramatic location, characterful old town, colourful past
Disadvantages: A bit of a tourist trap

clockwise from the southern gate, the Porte de Dinan. From above the gate you look out over the harbour entrance, busy with ferries and pleasure-boats, to the green hill of Alet on the further side, the fortress on its crest now a ruin. Walking seawards, the resort of Dinard can be seen on the far side of the Rance estuary, and the sweep of Brittany's "emerald coast" beyond. Turning north at the bastion on the corner (all the corners of St-Malo's ramparts are reinforced with bastions, a souvenir of Vauban's visit) you find the seaward view suddenly opening up in front of you. At high tide the water almost laps the walls; indeed, in a storm it pounds them, as it does the islets poking up just offshore. Creme de la mer face cream

Advantages: You see results quickly
Disadvantages: Expensive

I had heard about crème de la mer in the press & looked at the price & thought how ridiculously overpriced. Even though I was intrigued I thought there's no way I can justify spending that much. However things were about to change - fast forward to 3 years later & I have had the worst skin problems with spots & scarring - they seemed never ending & I was beginning to get fed up of always having horrible skin. Then one day complaining to a friend she recommended using crème de la mer. She has been using it for about 5 years & has the most amazing skin - so off I went to Selfridges & got the 30ml pot - I thought I don't want to splash out too much so I thought I'll use this size to try it out.
