First of all, if you have a car and need a car park, there are other hotels in the city that have got one. The Mercure hotel's is actually a garage, but very badly located, and as you book on the phone do not expect anyone to guide you about what to do when you arrive by car, nor to watch out for the short bollards between the hotel and the garage that could end up by damaging your vehicule (it has obviously happened to a few customers). If you need help, they do not really seem to care. And the staff's incompetence is up to the standard of the hotel. The room we had was in a very horrible dark corridor with head high electrical wires coming off the ceiling (they said they were doing some works, but it was high peak season). Then in the room, the ceiling did seem broken, the floor was not level, the bathroom shower head holder was cracked and the whole impression was yuk for the modest sum of £100 the night (car park included). And the breakfast was poor, mediocre. We booked for 3 nights, we ran away after the first night. There are nicer hotels in Versailles, for a cheaper price or more expensive, but definately nicer. That one is just to avoid from far!
