Hello, I'm Anna.
My nickname is Little Miss Brainy, because, well, umm..I'm not! Actually, my husband calls me it because I'm finishing my English Lit A Level this June as well as holding down a full-time job and doing amateur dramatics in my spa...

Having been to Meribel twice in the last three years, I can thoroughly recommend going there.
We booked with Meriski, and stayed in one of their larger chalets. There were 11 of us (three children). The chalets are absolutely gorgeous, open log fires, huge patio doors leading out onto a large balcony which went halfway around the chalet. We had two live-in staff, who were fantastic. They cooked and cleaned for us and generally treated us like royalty. We also had a minibus transfer from the chalet to the bottom of the slopes, which meant we weren't lugging our skis and boots everywhere. The shuttle bus continued its service throughout the day and up until about midnight every night. The facilities for the children were excellent too, they booked those that wanted it into ski-school and the kids into junior ski school (Magic In Motion). Meriski also provided an evening crčche/babysitter if required. I totally recommend Meriski when going to Meribel, as they handled everything with efficiency and were friendly and helpful.
Meribel itself is beautiful. It is like a picture off a chocolate box, with its traditionally French winter style chalets, surrounded by pine trees covered in snow and the twinkling of lights around the pretty old woodland shops. There are plenty of ski shops, which stock fashionable, stylish ski outfits and a wide range of outdoor/apres ski clothes. Most of the shops also provide for ski/boot hire, so you have a "one stop shop" if you are lacking in any of the necessities. There are also a few necessary food shops for those who are self-catering, including handy delicatessens.
The nightlife is good too - catering for all types of entertainment, from live music to bars and pubs and interesting restaurants, like the Raclette restaurant, which serve huge melted cheeses on some sort of metal device!
It is recommended to buy a "Trois-Vallee" ski-pass, as there are three (effectively four!) areas which are connected to ski/snowboard and there is more than plenty for everyone for all standards. I skied with my husband, who is not as proficient as I am (I hope he doesn't mind me saying that!) and we managed to ski happily together. The terrain is not as steep as say, Chamonix, and the chosen difficulty of the slopes is accurate.
The only downside to Meribel is that it can be expensive, the ski passes cost about Ł35 per day and eating out can loosen the purse strings as well!
However, I would thoroughly recommend Meribel as a place for all ages and all standards of ability and I will definitely be going back!!
