The Merrion is situated in the centre of Dublin and not very hard to find. It is at the top end of Upper Merrion Street on the right just past the Government buildings that are the home of the Irish Parliament. With its five stars you know you are going to get the best setting possible. Other very impressive labels are Hotel of the year for the AA and also the ... ...As I entered the hotel I was very impressed not only by the décor that was superb and very authentic but also the warm welcome I received. In the reception area you could not fail to be impressed with the beautiful plasterwork ceilings. It is worth a visit just to see the fantastic craftsmanship. I spent three nights here last Valentines having eaten in The Cellar resturaunt on a previous visit to Dublin. This time we ate in The Patrick Guilbaud - a two michelin starred resturaunt also inside the hotel. We had lunch on Valentines day and it was absolutely fantastic, the service was second to none, as it is in the rest of the hotel, nobody can do enough for you cleaners stop to open doors for you, and the desk and bar staff are brilliant. ... ...as we have never stayed at a hotel with such good service before. The room was just a standard one but was spacious and very nicely decorated and the bathroom was italian marble. It was probably the best hotel we have ever stayed in, taking everything into account and we hope to return next year with my parents as it is their 40th wedding anniversery and I think it will be the best present ever, even if it does bankrupt me!! ...

I have stayed at this hotel twice in the last few years. Its quite a way outside the main Temple-Bar area but is right by the tram stops. As the trams run very regularily getting about is easy.
