The Merry Hill Shopping Centre is based in the middle of Dudley in the West Midlands in a town called Brierly Hill - hence the 'Hill' part of the name I assume.

Building started in 1985 with a small scattering of major stores such as ASDA and Alied Carpets soon followed by a B&Q and C&A.
20 years on the site covers a huge area, offers over 200 shops, 10000 free parking spaces and is a great place to socialise as well.

I'm lucky to live on the doorstep - only about 4 miles down the road and spend a lot of time there.
The main reason being that once I am there I do not have to go anywhere else.
The centre has almost everything you would want from PCs to Groceries, and Pizzas to Makeup.
The centre is on two levels with easy access to everywhere by means of escalators and lifts. There is a lot of room enabling disabled users access to everwhere - as it should be - and also it does not seem as cramped as it could do when the sales are on or at major times of year such as Christmas.

Major Stores include - ASDA, SAINSBURY, PC World, MATALAN, B&Q, HALFORDS, HMV, VIRGIN, TK MAX, WATERSTONES, WHSMITHS, MOST MAJOR BANKS, BOOTS AND MANY MANY MORE.
All mobile phone networks have outlets there either firectly or through other companies, there are music stores, books stores, hair salons, a market, shoe shops.... I could go on but I am sure you get the picture.

Opening hours are great -

Generally:

Monday - Friday 9am - 9pm
Saturday 9am - 7pm
Sunday 11am - 5pm

With variations as follows:

Monday - Friday

Sainsbury's 8am - 10pm

Saturday

Sainsbury's 7.30am - 10pm
Marks & Spencer 8.30am - 7.00pm
Asda 8.30am - 8pm

Sunday
Sainsbury's 10.30am - 4.30pm

The centre is served well by bus routes and taxis and is sign posted from the major roads around it.

Social life

The centre also boasts a wide range of places for social events.
eat in one of the many restaurants in the centre or move up to one of the bars on the waterfront and enjoy a meal and drink by the canalside.

All in all a great shopping experience and well worth a visit.

Sounds good. I've never been but if I'm in that neck of woods...

I'm pretty close to it too! I'd say 3-4 miles as well!

Merry Hell it's honestly knows as now! I quite like Merry Hill, but it's full of "chavs" as they are knows as. Good shops, great that you can't smoke in there (I don't end up coughing for hours) and it's clean. Good review, well done!
