Metro Hotel & Apartments, Gladstone

Advantages: Lovely hotel!
Disadvantages: They don't replace food much at breakfast

...I went with my parents to barcelona recently and stayed at the Bel Art. Overall, we were very pleased, it had a wonderful layout, the lobby and hotel itself was beautiful. The service was very good overall, particularly on the reception. The only bad things i have to say about it were that a couple of times when we went dwn to breakfast, they didnt replace the food often. But apart from that, the hotel was very efficent. The bed was fairly comfortable bt I did get a bit cold in the night. There is a bar/disco next door, but it made no sound really, you couldn't hear a thing. It's right near to the Sagrada Familia, a big beautiful amazing church. Nearest metro station is 'Alfons X' (just turn right and keep going up, once you have left the hotel). ...My stay at the vincci conal mar was bizarre, very impressed with the appearance of the hotel, practically brand new, completely round, and very impressive on the eye. after leaving the airport,it was a 20 minute ride in a taxi, approx 25 euro, the area surrounding the hotel is quite residential/ rundown industrial estate which was off putting to start with and not the kind of place i wanted to walk through late at night, the area is called diagonal mar, and is served by regualr bus services and a brand new metro service, the area seems up and coming and the new apartments, shopping centre and hilton hotel certainly comfound this. the rooms are nice, spacious, and substancial discounts are to be had if you book via the hotels website - we got a 60% off infact! you are about 15 minutes on the metro away from downtown barcelona... ...Location – Off the ring road along the top edge of the city centre. Most 4 and 5 * hotels seem to be located along this stretch - the Hilton, Sheraton and Plaza are all nearby. The Botanic Gardens are next to the hotel and offer the chance of a nice walk in the park. One of the main pedestrian shopping streets is opposite so the location is great if you’re there to shop. For the rest of the sights, the main square (Grand Place), is a 15-20 min walk away where many areas of interest and good restaurants are. The only downside to the location is there are no restaurants near the hotel (apart from the one at the hotel) so it’s a metro ride or a walk in the evening to your dinner.
