I stayed here with my partner at the end of May 2006 for three nights at a cost of £50 per night for a standard room. We were starting our gap year travels here, and had done plenty of research to find a reasonably priced hotel, due to the high cost of living in Hong Kong.
We got the airport express into Hong Kong and then got a taxi to the hotel, which took fifteen minutes.
Located in Causeway Bay, on average it took us twenty minutes to walk into the city centre, where the shopping and restaurants generally were, but this was not a problem for us. There were always taxis outside if you wanted to gete there quicker, but we wanted to see more of the city.
Upon arrival our bags were taken out of the taxi for us by hotel staff and taken up the escalator to the reception. Heree we checked in and we were giveen our keys. There were two elevators servicing the hotel.
When we got to our room, we were pleasantly surprised by the size and modern furnishings. There was a large double bed, two bedside tables, pictures hung above the headboard, modern lighting (no overhead lighting) an extremely clean bathroom, with a large shower (4 sq feet) mirror, toilet, basin set into a granite counter and complimentary shampoo, conditioner and soap. There was a large closet by the door, which had space to hang clothes, shelves and a safe with instructions on how to use it. The tv received many satellite channels. The window offered a view of a mountainside, high rise housing and offices and the south side of Hong Kong, unfortunately this was the "wrong" side to be on because the views of Kowloon Bay and the busier parts of Hong Kong were to be found from the other side of the hotel. There was complimentary broadband in the rooms, via laptop ports, which was quite commonly found in Asia, but a nice touch none the less.
The rooftop pool was amazing, about fifteen metres by ten, and the views really helped us get our bearings and were fabulous. Nearby you could see many sports pitches and facilities, stretching across into the busier and more urbanised city centre and then Kowloon Bay, where the Star Ferry could be caught. This we did at a verey reasonable £2, which again for the incredible views was very cheap. There was a gym also, but we didn't use that.
The hotel bar was expensive (£4.50 for a bottle of beer) but quite lively in the evenings.
I would definitely recommend this hotel to visitors of Hong Kong, maybe more as a business hotel than a couples hotel, as we found nothing wrong with it, was reasonably priced, 25 minute walk away from the shops and very welcoming
