When trying to decide on a hotel for our trip to Hong Kong we did a lot of research and opted for the Metro Park Hotel in Causeway bay rather than its sister hotel in Kowloon. This was mainly due to its location in a quieter part of town and its superb transport links. The hotel is roughly three quarters of an hour from the airport and the bus to the airport stops at the door of the hotel, as our transport was included we did not use that option. It is well located too with the MTR station being just along the road, the trams passing the end of the road and the bus to Stanley also just a short walk away. The hotel also runs free transport to Causeway Bay shopping area and also Wan Chai for the conference centre and star ferry.

When we got to our room, we were pleasantly surprised by the size and modern furnishings. There was a large double bed, two bedside tables, pictures hung above the headboard, modern lighting (no overhead lighting) an extremely clean bathroom, with a large shower (4 sq feet) mirror, toilet, basin set into a granite counter and complimentary shampoo, conditioner and soap. There was a large closet by the door, which had space to hang clothes, shelves and a safe with instructions on how to use it. The tv received many satellite channels. The window offered a view of a mountainside, high rise housing and offices and the south side of HongKong, unfortunately this was the "wrong" side to be on because the views of Kowloon Bay and the busier parts of Hong Kong were to be found from the other side ...

Stayed here in February 2008 before embarking on a cruise to Vietnam and China. If you want to experience a more authentic Hong Kong I would highly recommend it although it does come as a bit of a shock at first. I wouldn't say that this hotel is really in a tourist area at all although I loved it precisely for that reason. It is very easy to get to using the underground system (Prince Edward station is the closest) and is within easy walking distance of all of the Kowloon markets which are a must see. The hotel itself is clean and well laid out. The room had a king bed with a small table and chair. The room including the bathroom was clean and had nice furnishings. The most important thing to be aware of is the bed. The mattress is incredibly firm and although it is possible to sleep on it ther is little if any mor cushioning than ...
