I am a very frugal person who needs to research everything before I commit to something just to reconcile myself that I am getting the best VFM. I want you to get the best VFM too and hate to see people getting ripped off. Let's help each other, eh?

Stayed here in February 2008 before embarking on a cruise to Vietnam and China. If you want to experience a more authentic Hong Kong I would highly recommend it although it does come as a bit of a shock at first. I wouldn't say that this hotel is really in a tourist area at all although I loved it precisely for that reason. It is very easy to get to using the underground system (Prince Edward station is the closest) and is within easy walking distance of all of the Kowloon markets which are a must see. The hotel itself is clean and well laid out. The room had a king bed with a small table and chair. The room including the bathroom was clean and had nice furnishings. The most important thing to be aware of is the bed. The mattress is incredibly firm and although it is possible to sleep on it ther is little if any mor cushioning than on a floor. We tried it the first night and then asked at reception for a different mattress. They had obviously received such requests before and within minutes housekeeping provided us with a mattress topper which helped a lot but still didn't give us the type of spongey bed we are used to in the West. According to the hotel staff this is the normal type of mattress that Chinese people use. Breakfast was very good and had a fairly wide range of Eastern and Western cuisine. Eggs, bacon, sausage, bread were all present but they were Eastern equivalents, but if you want the same food as you get back home why travel anywhere?! There was rice, congee etc and fresh fruit and cereals. too This is perfect if you want to be a little off the beaten track and see and experience the local people.
