I had a 2 hour stopover on my way back home from South America, and it was a hellish 2 hours, during which I could never be sure I would make my connection. The airport is absolutely chaotic, too busy and understaffed, and doesn't inspire any kind of confidence if you've a connection to make. I had the added disadvantage of being on crutches and with a flight to catch, but there is no clear system to expedite passengers who are in this situation. Contrast with JFK in New York, where a simple comment to a member of staff that I had little time to make my connection made sure I sped through every queue. In Miami, chances are the staff wouldn't even understand you, as they mostly speak Spanish. Now I'm not against languages other than English, and I'm not one of these travellers who expect English to be spoken in all foreign countries, but this is an international airport in an English-speaking country... For disabled passengers, a wheelchair is provided, but the passport control desk for wheelchair passengers is the most chaotic of the lot. It takes much longer than necessary, staff squabble and fight amongst themselves instead of forming a queue, and no help is given to passengers in a rush.
In short, I would gladly pay to avoid ever having to visit this godforsaken airport again.
