For a 40th review, it had to be something a bit special, something that has really made an impact on my life. Where else but Miami? I had always wanted to visit Miami having been particularly interested in the Art Deco district. As a 21st birthday present, my mum treated me, my boyfriend and my Aunt to a Caribbean cruise and a short pre-cruise stay in Miami. I was extremely excited, here's why?

Miami Ink, if you haven't heard about it already, is a TV show about a tattoo parlour in Miami (if you hadn't already guessed!).
The series began in July 2005, introducing four eager tattooists, Ami James, Chris Nunez, Chris Garver and Darren Brass, as well as Ami's apprentice, Yoji Harada. Throughout the episodes new tattooists enter and go, the most famous probably being Kat Von D who turned the studio around with her beautiful portrait tattoos.
Each show lasts about an hour long, and during that time we see a variety of clients enter the studio to get their tattoos.
The guys who run/work in the studio are all fairly young, heavily tattooed and have been through different walks of life. Most of them have spent their lives tattooing, so working in the shop you can tell means a lot to them. Each artist has a different personality ...

just as I remembered it. White washed walls, bustling bars and some of the most beautiful scenery I've ever seen. Calella seems to sit on volcanic rock, and this makes the cliffs steep and the scenery lovely. We made our way back to the apartment to change into bathers (it was really hot at 5pm) and observed the apartment complex. We stayed in CalellaPark which was built in 1973 and is made up of several different units spanning accross the main road. Our section had a large swimming pool (olympic size) and a play area for kids, so was very family friendly.
Food:
Our first night was spent in La Gavina, a restaurant on Gravina in Calella, which has an outdoor area which is covered in vines. It's a lovely setting, and thankfully, they now have a cover so you can still sit outside when it rains. The food is fantastic, and in two weeks ...
