When visited I was going through a difficult period in my life and at the time I was living in Silver Spring,MD in the US.I had just purchased a nissan maxima GLX 2002 the year before and the car could move. The car had less than 20,000 miles on it and I the furthest that I had been with the car was to the Altantic city area in New Jersey. This time around I decided that I was going to head south towards the sunshine state areas. This was around the early part of December 2004.
The Journey I got on I-95 South and just kept going. The only time that I would stop was when I was running out of gas and ocassionally to stop at the convenient stores for something to eat. From the state of Maryland you go through the state of Virginia,North Carolina,South Carolina,Georgia and then you hit the state of Florda. There is nothing like driving on a US interstate. The speed limit varies from state to state. The lowest speed limit being 65 miles per hour while the highest was about 85 miles per hour. You will get to go bye a lot of truck trailers as they haul consumer items from one state to another. The police hardly bother you at all.Driving at 85 miles an hour is fast enough and I could not imagine anybody who would attempt to go faster.
The state of florida Once you start getting close to the state of Florida the music in your radio station suddenly changes. It is as if you have gotten lost and found yourself in a Latin American country instead of the USA.I had left the house very early in the morning and the journey had lasted a complete day.The total distance covered was about 1077miles.I arrived Miami in the morning and since this was my first time in the city I did not exactly know what part of the city I had landed on.I know it was an exlusive part though because of the type of houses around the area that I was.I stayed inside my car into day break before I could to explore the city.
Miami Beach I had been to different beaches in the US but this one was different because of the share size. You go downtown Miami where the beach is an you can see for yourself. It just kept going and going and there seems to be no end to the sand beach. It was during the Christmas period which is winter time in the east coast where I was coming from but here is the Sunshine state and the weather is always sunny
Getting around Getting around the city is easy if you are driving.Like in most major US cities the road signs are pretty clear and you just have to follow them. Some of the famous places that I stumble on where the Orange Bowl.I got to see it from the outside. The Orange bowl is famous for being the home of the Miami of Florida collegefootball team and also at some point the home of the professional football team the Miami Dolphins.
As you drive around the city you would notice that there are a lot of hispanics in the area. They had moved there mostly from Cuba and other Latin American countries. You go to some of the gas stations and all they speak there is spanish. The convenient stores are looking for workers that are bilingual(English and Spanish). This would be the part of town that you can get cheap hotel or motelaccommodation. You have to be careful in some areas because of the crime rate in this part of the country
To conclude if you are looking for a place to visit anytime during the year,Miami is the place.Great weather year round.Good seafood and Hispanic people are very easy to get along with
