Advantages: Housing and land super-affordable, great shopping, restaurants, and cultural opportunities, theatre, museums, sports, international airport, rapid transit rail system
Disadvantages: traffic is terrible, easy to get lost

...and buy because prices are going up, up, up as people discover what a bargain it is to live in the metro Atlanta area. Buckhead is a fabulous haven of fine restaurants, theatres and great dance and music clubs. For a funkier crowd you can hear some great music, see some experimental theatre or meditate at a Zen den in Little Five Points. I'm married, but I understand the singles scene is happening in Atlanta. Scottish friends of mine moved here and will never leave because they swear there's nowhere in the world with such a balmy climate, land galore and all the shopping, cultural and culinary resources you could ever hope for.... ...The city of Atlanta is a great place to spend a vacation. If you want to experience life in a big city, but can't cope with the crime and sheer size of places like New York or Los Angeles, Atlanta is perfect. The population is very sizeable, and the city is very warm in the summer! Usually 100 degrees, and quite humid. I personally enjoyed this very much. Atlanta is the home of Coca Cola and CNN, and you can get tours of their magnificent buildings. At CNN you not only get to tour the news rooms, but also you have the chance of appearing live on TV on the talk show Talkback Live (remember to book tickets in advance by calling up CNN). The people are warm and friendly - it's a vibrant community, with many different types of people. Shopping is second only to New York with Lenox Square Mall, Phipps Plaza and such places. Advantages: A great city to visit with all the mod-cons that you'd expect
Disadvantages: Occasionally high traffic levels

...Atlanta has been described as “the Los Angeles of the South”. Such a comment is grossly unfair to a wonderful city. Atlanta was the host of the Summer Olympics in 1996 and because of this the city is still enjoying a boom, as well as an immense showing of civic pride. As well as the Olympics the Super Bowl has become a regular visitor to the city, which has also played host to Baseball’s all-star game. There are a number of excellent facilities to host such events, but even without them Atlanta would still be a charming city. One thing I really liked as an Olympic legacy was Centennial Olympic Park, right smack in the centre of the city. A nice, tranquil green area, the fact it is so consistently quiet is surprising. Yet it became one of my favourite areas upon visiting, especially as it was in the middle of a hot July and the fountain... Read review
