Advantages: Cheap fares, very prominent throughout Africa Disadvantages: Occasional delays, long queues at check-in
and from Ghana and these include, British Airways, KLM, Swissair, Alitalia, Ethiopian Airlines, Egypt Air, South African Airlines, MiddleEastAirlines and a few others.
The main incentive of flying with Ghana Airways, on say a flight from London to Accra and back, is the price. This sector on average (Peak season/Off Peak season) would cost you about PDS600 return on Economy Class. Other airlines such as British Airways would cost about 25% higher than this.
Their safety record is also very good and from what I understand they have not had one fatal crash (a death of a passenger) in their history.
On the long haul flight they operate all three classes i.e. Economy, Business and First. This is beneficial to those who prefer First Class, since a majority of airlines have discontinued First Class altogether.

Advantages: clean, comfortable, good service Disadvantages: No direct flights out to Asia
I have flown repeatedly with Gulf Air out to various places in Asia from India to South East Asia and the far east. These have always required a stop-off in the gulf area of the MiddleEast, almost always Bahrain which is the airlines hub. The airline has connections from London, Paris and Frankfurt out to Bahrain and from there there are plenty of connections out to Asia and to various places around the MiddleEast and Islamic countries such as Sudan and Iran. Thus it isn't the best connected airline for those trying to connect from Western Europe as it will almost always require a change over unless Bahrain is the final destination.
The main reason I have flown with Gulf Air is that they have consistently been the cheapest option on offer for flights out to Asia-perhaps because of the required change over. I have flown with them for 3 ...

Advantages: Excellent Service Disadvantages: More expensive than others
I have travelled with Emirates to Dubai, Sydney & Singapore on more than one occassion with Emirates and have always arrived at my destination in a good mood and ready for work.
Emirates are not a budget airline, but appear to pride themselves on having a superb quality of service. If I wanted to find cheaper flights I could do so with the likes of Singapore Airlines or one of the other middleeast companies, but I find it more important to arrive feeling ready for whatever I am going to do.
Treatment
On each occassion I have travelled with Emirates I have been treated courteously and even when I have wanted to change flights half way through a flight so I don't have to hang around for a connecting flight in Dubai, they have helped.
