HOLIDAY INN - GHENT
Review of Holiday Inn, Ghent by  kismet

Advantages: clean, tidy, good service and price
Disadvantages: need a taxi to get into town

...clean the rooms very well and leave you new clean towels if required. The room was a nice size and the window opened. The tv had English channels on it and you could pay for films if you wanted. Our room had a table and two chairs as well as the dressing table area with another chair. COST +++++ A basic twin/double room is around 90 euros a night, which is around £60 which equates to £30 per person which is very reasonable for bed and breakfast. Prices vary depending on how far in advance you book and whether you book a basic or more advanced room. Booking can be made by telephone or online. BREAKFAST +++++++++++ The breakfast buffet had a fantastic selection of food. There was cereals, toast, sausages, bacon, eggs and a more continental selection of cheese, ham, bread, rolls, cake. There is plenty of juice on offer... Read review

Would you Adam and Eve it?
Review of Eden Hotel, Ghent by  tange

Advantages: Friendly, comfortable and good buffet breakfast.
Disadvantages: Limited parking and looks awful from the front.

..., or take a single room for €70. ~~~ROOMS. The Eden is only a small hotel with 29 rooms. It is decorating in a typically Flemish style and is comfortable but not overly elaborate. The public rooms are decorated in the same fashion ~ there is a decent sized breakfast room and a lounge connected to the 24 hour reception, which also has a television and some comfortable seating. The breakfast room is suitable for a hotel this size and I particularly liked the massive carved wooden fireplace. Each bedroom has either twin or double beds (or a single in the sole occupancy rooms) and either a bath or shower. Our bathroom (with shower) was extremely small and seemed as though it had been crafted out of an old bit of cupboard space. The shower and basin fit into a very small place well and you don't actually feel too cramped. Once we had... Read review

Pretty, Oh so Pretty
Review of Ghent (Belgium) by  zoe_page

Advantages: Sweet Belgian city with some interesting unique things to see
Disadvantages: Not booming out of season

...on items on display in the quasi museum housed inside, but these are all in English, even if they are deadly boring / have a tendency to state the obvious: "this is a table"…."this is a bed"…. "these are some shackles" …. "this is a dining room. People would eat in here". Ignoring the dubious signs, though, you can still enjoy looking round, and after the internal tour you can clamber around outside including heading to the turrets for some good views over the city. No trip to Belgium would be complete without trying the yumminess that is waffles in their commonly-believed home nation, so having not managed to fit any in during our time in Antwerp, it became a must-do for Ghent. The perfect time came as we were walking through one of the small, cobbled squares and happened across a tiny waffle stand. It had a shop front but you couldn't go... Read review
