I am from Valencia myself and I would definitely recommend going up the Miguelete. The Miguelete is basically a bell tower of Gothic style, dated 1381, attached to the Catedral de Valencia, in the old historic town of the city, within the boundaries of El Carmen neighbourhood. The entrance to El Miguelete is inside the cathedral and you will need to pay a very small fee (not even £1) to ascend its 207 spiralling steps, about 50 metres of height. This is a good way of testing your fitness. You will probably get to ... ...worth it when you see the whole of Valencia extended in front of you. You will be able to see the City of Arts and Sciences and many other of the city's landmarks, as well as the rooftops of the old city and people strolling and drinking horchata (a local drink made of chufa seeds) in the Plaza de la Reina and the cathedral's square just below. In clear days you will also be able to see the sea, which is only a few miles away.
