Family experience

Advantages: Very modern facilities for kids
Disadvantages: Seems very out-of-date and forgotten compared to other places in Milan

We visited the Museo Nazionale della Scienza e della Tecnologia Leonardo da Vinci in 2007. We had a job finding it as many locals we asked hadn't heard of it or didn't know where it was, and even one road away we saw no indications that it existed at all. We eventually found it (via San Vittore 21, about 5 minutes walk from S. Ambrogio station on M2, the green line). Entry cost €8 each which, after looking around, we thought was a bit excessive. ...
...the museum modern and interactive as the labs for schoolchildren, maybe we will go back. You get a little map of the museum with contact details on the back (would have been helpful in finding the place). It's probably a good idea if you're planning a visit to have a look on their website to get the map and travel directions first. Also note that the whole museum is closed on Mondays. The building itself is quite nice. It used to be a monastery and ...

A walk back in time

Advantages: Beautiful architecture in heart of Milan
Disadvantages: None

Viewed from the outside, the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele invitingly gives the impression you should explore within. We saw it from the Duomo (Cathedral) Square and after the `oohs and aahs' took the inevitable photos before we even looked at the guide book to see what it was. It is that type of building. Go in we did! What magnificent architecture! As you walk along you step into the old world of stylish Milan. The little boutique shops are a delight ...
...Milan, pop in to the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele, it adds to your visit to the Duomo and all there is to see around about. Take the well planned and operated underground to Duomo station and then it is only a few steps to the gallery. Watch out for the pigeon-feeding, camera-toting sharks who want to relieve you of your well-earned Euros. ...

This is a must see attraction

Advantages: educational and interesting
Disadvantages: may be boring for the kids

The Duomo cathedral in the centre of Milan is by far one of the most interesting and predominant landmarks of the city. i remember going there for the first time when i was 10 years old and not really bieng interested in it. I came back to it in augost 2004 when i was 13 and bieng more interested in it than 3 years before. as soon as you go in you are greeted with the smell of incence and old wood. The Duomo has also some of the most wonderful stained ...
...the kids because it is almost certain that they will run riot. If you ever find yourself in milan then i suggest taking a look at this fine piece of art. The cathedral is easily accesible because of all the trams that drop you off right in front of it. ...

A breathtaking experience

Advantages: Art can only have advantages
Disadvantages: Don't see any

...only 50 x 70 cm., Il Cenacolo is quite big and this is one of the reasons why I felt so astonished when I walked into the small refectory room. I was about 18 when I first saw it and I really didn’t expect it like that. I had always seen it on magazines and books. Believe me, it’s not the same. Maybe because it’s something made in the 15th century, maybe because it’s situated just where Leonardo painted it, but I can assure you that once inside ...
...floor, I was there. Il Cenacolo represents the last supper, the famous scene in the Bible with Christ that sits at the table in the center and his disciples sit around him. This painting is probably the most important one among all works of art representing Christian subjects. It has always been in our imagination. Maybe some of you will remember for instance the film Jesus Christ Superstar. The Last Supper scene was taken from Il Cenacolo. All ...

Bonola: please come in! You'll find everything!

Advantages: Satisfy curiosity
Disadvantages: Perhaps boring

Bonola is the first shopping center ‘born’ in the town of Milan, while the other previous shopping centers were all out of the borders of the town. THE QUARTER Bonola lies in a quarter of the outskirts of the town, at the north west of Milan, not far from the soccer stadium. You can easily find it, because Bonola is also a stop of the red line, the oldest line, of the underground. The center lies quite in the middle between two underground stops, ...
...main entrance of the center. Bonola exists since 1988, and I saw its development from the beginning, because I live at approximately one hundred meters from it. So, if you want, you should came with me to visit this shopping center: I’m sure it is something quite different from the shopping centers in your country. THE SHOPPING CENTER The shopping center is composed from a great number of shops and offices (200 or more), and an hypermarket called ...
