Exceeded my expectations
Review of Verona Hotel, Milan by
avacarrdo
Advantages: Clean and cheap-ish, close to main train station
Disadvantages: Not a great place for socialising
...OVERVIEW:
The hotel Verona is a one-star hotel located on a back street near to Milan's central train station. It has nineteen rooms, consisting of twelve single rooms, five double rooms and a triple. There are communal bathrooms, although it seems that most, if not all rooms have an ensuite. Rooms have heating and airconditioning, a small ante-room where breakfast is served, and reception is open 24 hours a day.
LOCATION AND CHECKING IN:
The ... ...five minute amble from Milano Centrale (The main station). The main tourist attractions, such as the Cathedral are three or four stops on the metro, which is located underneath the central station. There didn't seem to be many touristy things around the hotel; mostly small cafes, neighbourhood shops and other hotels. Then again, we didn't really have time to explore the neighbourhood on foot. The area seemed safe to walk around in at night, although ...

The Hotel in the Middle of Nowhere
Review of Ramada Malpensa, Milan by
Katieshaz
Advantages: I wasn't paying, my room was clean, good breakfasts.
Disadvantages: Lack of facilities, poor customer service.
This is yet another hotel I stayed in when flying as cabin crew. I was on a trip here for 4 days, flying from Milan Malpensa Airport staying at this 4 star hotel.
Location: About a 15 minutes drive from the airport, the hotel provides a free shuttle bus services with irregular timings. This is the place to stay if you have to go to the airport, definitely not the place to stay if you want to explore the city of Milan! This hotel is in the middle ... ...scenery yes, but not much to do! First impressions:
Arriving at the hotel in a rather battered hotel minibus with a friendly driver speaking broken English, I was rather under whelmed. As said before, it's in the middle of nowhere, just off a main road. The hotel is a very modern and is painted a very garish shade of orange, not sure who thought this would be a good idea! There is a fountain outside which looks impressive in photographs but wasn't ...

Location, Service, Location....the great trio
Review of Grand Hotel Puccini, Milan by
elltee
Advantages: Next to subway, In a great shopping street
Disadvantages: Not english breakfast
...which takes you to the grand central station. From there it is a simple matter of using the underground to get to the stop right next to the hotel which lies on the red line at the stop named 'Lima'. You will have to hop onto the green line to 'Loreto' to switch to the red line. You'll get the picture when you're in front of the rail maps, its quite straightforward as long you keep the ends of the line in mind.
Alternatively you may opt for taxi ... ...go to other cities the grand central station is a useful landmark to know how to get to. Once you get the underground in your system you'll be amazed how fast you can get to anywhere.
As for the hotel itself, the rooms are quite comfortable with available broadband as well as Internet on Tv. The television actually comes with its own keyboard. Bathroom facilities are also more than adequate, furnished even with a 'bede'. The morning breakfast leaves ...

Treated badly by Hotel Medusa
Review of Medusa, Milan by
stoerebink
Advantages: I can't think of any
Disadvantages: They are not honest
I'd booked a room with Medusa. It appeared that the room was under construction. Because nobody speaks addiquate english, the problem only became bigger. First they wanted to put me in a youth hostel. Then they said I had to pay up front and they'd book me over to another hotel and they'd pay the 'price difference'. They promissed me that it would be an equally good hotel.
They booked me over to pensione Luisa, which turned out to be the most horrible ... ...a lót of hotels around the world. I could not spend the night there and had to book another hotel for 90 euro's per night. Before I left I photographed everything as proof. Just horrible!!
My advice is not to believe what the people at Medua say, because the fool you without even blinking. Imho these people are not to be trusted. Unfortunately I had to find that out myself. ...

Look no further than Berna!
Review of Berna Hotel, Milan by
elliethegreat
Advantages: Great breakfast, Great location
Disadvantages: Decor wasn't great
...one to choose but the Berna is defiantly worth a stay.
Although my family and I only stayed one night before flying home, the hotel was the comfiest night’s stay I had all holiday.
When entering the cool foyer there is an array of Italian sweets and chocolate, and a choice of some newspapers (unfortunately none in English, but you can still look at the pictures) and comfy sofas, great to collapse in after a days travelling in the heat. The reception ... ...which always makes life a lot simpler, there was no queue so we were in our rooms within minutes of arriving. There are two lifts available to take guests to upper floors, but are small, only comfortably holding 3 people. There are stairs also. Our rooms consisted of three single beds, large wardrobe, desk, cupboards, work tops, 5 mirrors (!), en-suit and free mini-bar containing soft drinks including cola, water and pear juice. The décor wasn’t ...
